Project Manager (EGL1 Scotland)

Eastern Green Link 1 (EGL1) is a groundbreaking two-gigawatt high voltage direct current electrical superhighway that will stretch from the Torness area in East Lothian, Scotland, to Hawthorn Pit in County Durham, England. This ambitious project is set to unlock Scotland’s vast renewable energy reserves, dramatically boosting the UK’s capacity to transport clean energy from its source to where it’s needed most. With its innovative multi-directional design, EGL1 will also enhance the resilience and stability of the UK’s transmission networks, paving the way for a sustainable energy future.

Prysmian UK is thrilled to announce that we’ve been awarded the prestigious land-cable installation for the Eastern Green Link (EGL) 1 project! As we continue to grow, we’re excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a dynamic Project Manager to join our team. EGL1 is our largest project to date, with preparatory and site works spanning from 2024 to 2029.

Your contribution to Prysmian's Success:  

Manage and oversee the execution to completion of the project, directly managing the North (Scotland) elements of the project

Awareness to specific site characteristics (topography, landscape, environmental and ecological constraints, current infrastructure, sustainability, health and safety)

Work closely with the design team to produce the best engineering solution for joint bay locations, cable section lengths and pulling locations taking into account logistics and transport requirements.

Managing interaction and liaison related to consents, Landowners, Local Planning Authorities and third-party Stakeholders to ensure progression of the planning and consents.

Work closely with the wider team to manage and develop any necessary Scope of Works, Division of Responsibilities, Employer and or Client Requirements and Technical Specifications for Onshore Cable works.

Interface extensively with the clients offshore cable team to manage the interface of the cable landfall.

Actively manage to appointment any required subcontract requirements, specifically HHD/Civils, but will include other critical elements.

Work with the wider team to source, review, appoint any such required consultants and/or internal colleagues to develop and carry out pre-condition surveys.

Interface, liaison and coordination with any parties responsible for coinciding works, e.g. substation, converter station etc design/build to ensure interface for cable installation is fully understood and planned to ensure successful execution.

Issue Early Warning Notice (EWN) to Prysmian’s subcontractor or client as soon as Prysmian becomes aware of anything which could affect the total of the prices, could delay completion or a key date, or could impair the performance of the works in use.

Organise and chair EGL1 project update meetings with any relevant stakeholder/parties.

You are the right fit if you have/are: 

Proven experience in a similar position, preferably within energy / renewables or construction environment

Hold a sound understanding of construction or civil engineering matters.

Highly effective coordination and communication with all stakeholders involved in the project, at all levels of the project team and senior management team

Possess strong communication skills, with the ability to engage and build relationships with clients

Educated to a HND or degree level in a relevant engineering discipline, however not essential.

Excellent level of computer literacy.

Ability to work unsupervised and prioritize workload to meet deadlines.

A driving license is essential
