How You’ll Help Us Connect the World

As a Manager – Systems Engineering, you will be responsible for the Global Regional Fibre Characterization and Deployment Project and be the first point of contact for the customer and associated team members involved with the project. The essential function of the role is to act as the service provider to a CommScope customer and will be expected to meet all customer expectations regarding technical skills, performance, and policy compliance for the team.

You will work closely with the customer and your team to assist in the management of customer vendors, and internal customer teams interfacing with project development to bring customer network capacity delivery to fruition. The coordination, tracking and managing of the fibre testing activities associated with the customer’s (and customer’s Affiliate’s located in the AMERICAS Region) network services (fiber, waves, collocation space, power, cross-connects, riser, IP- transit ports, etc.) from third-party Vendors will be the focus.

In addition, your position as Manager-Systems Engineering will involve retrieving and presenting team KPI and metric data in a timely manner per the agreed framework with the customer, along with directly managing your global/regional teammates.

 

This role will be remotely located from your home location while interfacing with global/regional teammates and customers at a customer facility location.

You Will Make an Impact By

Supplier SPOC and interface for META  with respect to the associated project SOW Manage the delivery of large-scale network infrastructure projects involving dark fiber, , and inside plant fiber from inception through delivery. Ensure facilities are delivered on schedule and meet technical specifications. Proficient in the reading & understanding of dark fiber planning documents, with the ability to act on the conditions set out within the planning documents. Good understanding of interconnectivity requirements within carrier hotels, data centres and other leased facilities. Strong knowledge of fiber characterization, fiber types, physical interfaces, connector types. Assist upstream planning, design, and acquisition teams surveying developing infrastructure requirements, priorities, and delivery date expectations. Ensure Global/regional team training provided as required. Coordinate team as required in Supplier team management capacity; leading weekly meetings and directing supplier team as required to exceed prescribed SLA’s. Work with Customer Vendors to expedite delivery of approved and tested fibre paths as required. Reach out to the customer Vendors and establish a communication cadence and help support the associated engineers with the necessary escalations. Work with Account Payable team to help rectify any PO discrepancies/queries and liaise with the customer as needed Produce a monthly report to review CommScope’s adherence to SLAs

Required Qualifications for Consideration

University Degree in Telecommunications/ Engineering plus 5 years of experience in Project management/telecom experience If the candidate does have No Degree – Must have a minimum of 10 years of telecom experience in a management and/or primary sourcing function Extensive technology-related project management experience in a data network environment. Dark Fiber Analysis practices  Providing critical analysis on vendor's fiber network data handover packages  Use of industry standard software to assist (i.e., EXFO FastReporter3)   Build reports from the required field test data (using FastReporter3)  OTDR (Optical Time Domain Reflectometer) traces  CD/PMD  Power measurement/Span Loss  ORL  Fiber End Face validation Management of project financials and team labour and expense accruements Strong communication and presentation skills Able to work independently/self-sufficient Project management Experience People Management Experience

You Will Excite Us If You

Project Management certification is a plus: (PMP/sigma/Prince) Fluency in languages other than English Experienced in the delivery of telecommunications infrastructure and space and dark fibre from third-party suppliers. Knowledge of Dark Fiber Delivery. Deep understanding of interconnectivity requirements within carrier hotels, data centres, and other leased facilities including physical interfaces, cable types, connector types and riser details. Excellent organizational, project-management and communication skills

Our salary ranges consider a wide variety of factors, including but not limited to benchmarking by independent third-party consultants, skill sets, years of experience, training, education, geography, and other business needs. Depending on experience, the range can be higher for candidates with exceptional experience and a demonstrated history of successful performance. 


The candidate will be rewarded with a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision plans, life and accidental death insurance, a 401(k) plan, and participation in the Company’s Incentive Plan. Candidates starting with the Company will be eligible for eleven paid holidays in a full calendar year, two weeks of paid vacation (prorated based on start date), as well as other leave options.
