Project Manager

The opportunity

 

Downer has been awarded the Tier One contract for Powerco in the Northwest region (Taranaki / Whanganui) and we need a driven and positive Project Manager to join the team. As the Project Manger you will have a diverse portfolio of projects to manage ranging in complexity and value. In this role you will be required to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring that your working week is diverse and interesting where no two days are the same. At its core, the role is managing the financial performance of the projects, addressing issues that arise, ensuring that any variations to contracts are captured and keeping our customers informed and up to date on progress. The focus is to consistently deliver to a high standard and on time. 

 

You will not be alone! There is a fantastic support team of Designers, Project Managers and skilled operational professional in the region who are there to help you succeed. What you’ll do

Manage projects to specification, within budget and within agreed timeframes

Ensure resources are effectively coordinated to project plan

Facilitate timely and accurate invoicing

Ensure customer documentation is completed in a timely and accurate manner

Provide quality engineering, design and estimation services, quotations and as-built information to the client

Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders

Monitor and report on project expenditure and revenues so as to pro-actively control profitable outcomes on all projects. 

Conduct quality audits of work to ensure compliance with contract documents, design & construction standards, legislation, regulations and network operation standards

What we’re looking for

Knowledge of LV and HV distribution systems and zone substations is advantageous.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project)

Bachelor of Electrical Engineering or equivalent, or National Certificate in Electrical Engineering Level 4 (not essential)

Practical knowledge of engineering design standards

Strong emphasis on project delivery – making sure things are completed to the required standard, on time, and can adapt to change.

Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) with an emphasis on building customer engagement open, honest, and timely.

Enjoys being part of a dynamic team, has a great attitude, works hard, and can have a laugh!
