Job Description

Hours are Monday - Thursday 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Plus overtime.

Must be okay with being clean-shaven.

Must be okay with wearing nuclear protective gear.

Position Purpose:

The Project Lead is responsible for leading and coordinating the activities of a team of assigned operations technicians to safely and efficiently perform the scope of work detailed on the customer purchase order and/or work order.

Primary Duties /Responsibilities: 

Performs mechanical and/or chemical decontamination of radioactive materials/equipmentResponsible for the safe operation of the following equipment: powered/non-powered hand tools, hoists/cranes (e.g. overhead, gantry, and jib), powered and non-powered industrial trucks (e.g.. forklifts, box tilters), oxy-acetylene.oxy-propane torches, PAK-45, bailing press, HEPA vacuums.Dis-assemble, prepare, sand blast, painting, coating and re-assemble nuclear equipment, such as actuators, pumps, and type B casks.Assist with the planning and preparation of project estimates, proposals, and contracts.Monitor the nuclear controlled area.Track project hours.Work closely with the scheduling department.Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education / Experience / Background: 

High School diploma/ GEDBS in Chemistry or BA in related science discipline or equivalent work experience
is a plusMore than five years of commercial nuclear experience.1 to 2 years of project management experience preferred

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities: 

Knowledge of disposal capabilities and limitations prior to shipping waste materials to ensure efficient disbursement and storage.Computer proficient in Microsoft Windows SuiteExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsTime management: the ability to organize and manage multiple deadlines, simultaneous tasks, and multiple projects/people as necessaryStrong customer service orientationPossess ability to follow through on projects to completion.Complete knowledge and understanding of contract provisions and terms.Ability to create & prepare reports as necessaryStrong knowledge and understanding of basic chemistry and hazards of chemicalsStrong knowledge of 40 and 49 CFR and frequently used citationsMust be able to effectively participate in projects involving environmental matters with other support staff and make recommendations to supervisors.Ability to operate fork trucks, overhead cranes, monitoring/survey equipment, other measuring equipment/devicesComplies with all health and safety policies and procedures in accordance with Alaron and Veolia requirementsApplies independent and critical decision/discretion/judgement on matters of significance to Alaron’s operationsAttends all required training coursesMaintains a professional image to clientsUnderstand the ALARA principle.RAD understandingRCRA understanding
