Job Description

The Project Engineering Lead will coordinate the development and delivery of infrastructure projects within a dockyard environment, taking a holistic approach to scope, engineering solutions and project progression. They will work within multi-disciplinary teams to ensure technical completeness and alignment with customer requirements. This role may include but is not limited to: requirements management, stakeholder engagement, support throughout the full project lifecycle, ensure projects are properly scoped and delivered using sound systems thinking principles, facilitating stakeholder workshops, helping shape pragmatic approaches to complex and real-world infrastructure problems, delivering verification, validation and compliance plans.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Work collaboratively with facilities engineering discipline leads to obtain engineering assistance required, define activities and jointly establish Statements of Work.Ensure project scoping, requirements capture and problem definition are done effectively and collaborativelyCoordinate and drive engineering projects forward, ensuring delivery against schedule and technical standards.Apply and promote practical systems thinking in support of infrastructure and facilities maintenance projectsPrepare and present technical and project documentation, including reports, plans and decision records.Ensure risks and issues are identified, managed and escalated appropriately.Contribute to design reviews, technical workshops and engineering governance processes.Act as a key interface between engineering teams, customers and stakeholders to maintain alignment and customer expectations.

Work Experience

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s degree (minimum) in an Engineering discipline (e.g. Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Systems or related).Typically 2+ years of relevant project engineering experience in a highly regulated industry (e.g., aerospace, nuclear, maritime, infrastructure, oil and gas etc. ).Understanding of systems engineering principles, including requirements management, integration and verification and validation.Familiarity with project coordination and basic project management principles, even if gained informally.Experience organising and supporting stakeholder meetings. Ability to engage with stakeholders, technical teams and cross-functional groups to understand their key needs.Experience in applying systems thinking in environments with legacy systems, real-world constraints and evolving problem sets. Understanding of project life cycle from concept, commissioning to operations and maintenance.

 

Desirable Attributes:

Strong communication skills and a proactive, delivery-focused mindset.Experience in design and construction phases especially in a dockyard or industrial infrastructure environment.Exposure to delivering projects across the full lifecycle – from concept through to completion.Awareness of engineering assurance and governance within a regulated or safety-critical environment.
