Project Engineer I (Coyol, Alajuela)

As a Project Engineer, you will be crucial in successfully delivering different programs ranging from small-scale to complex, large-scale engagements, related mostly to new raw materials, suppliers, dual sourcing, and any program related to advanced engineering. Your experience in manufacturing processes, materials, qualifications/validations and project management, and the proper use of project and prioritization models will ensure the seamless execution of programs while complying with the company QMS and international medical devices standards. As a Project Engineer you will work with a cross-functional team across multiple functions as R&D, DQE, QA, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Tooling & Automation, and Regulatory Affairs, among others, owning and driving all the deliverables within the Program Life Cycle.

This position is a P1 level (Only for internal candidates)

What will you be doing?  

Lead end-to-end program management activities with a diverse range of complexities. 

Develop project documentation including procedures, documents related to validations (IQ, OQ, PQ, PPQ etc) datasheets test records etc.

Ensure the document control system is maintained and the internal approval workflow is followed.

Ensure that the quality management system is followed.

Help to coordinate a portfolio of projects, handling changes and interventions to maintain the portfolio's progress, and serve as the main point of reference for the overall health and savings pipeline.

Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to analyze needs and align strategies, timelines, and program execution.

Collaborate with horizontal workstreams to address interdependencies, drive governance, and facilitate regular program and project calls.

Work closely with other project managers and business teams to create and maintain project pipelines according to business needs and KPIs.

Help to mitigate roadblocks to achieving sprint/release goals.

Proactively identify and mitigate program risks, managing issues that may arise during program execution.

Monitor program progress and ensure that program deliverables are of the highest quality, meeting, or exceeding client expectations.

Effectively communicate program status, updates, and potential roadblocks to both internal/ external stakeholders and Management.

Leverage your knowledge to provide valuable insights and recommendations during program planning and execution.

Build and maintain strong relationships with internal management, clients, and third parties to achieve project goals.

Specify and select components to be used in the projects.

Assist the procurement department with sourcing the correct components.

Collaborate with key program collaborators to ensure successful program implementation across workstreams and businesses.

Identify and address customer concerns, partner concerns, actions, and decisions; take ownership of the process for addressing issues and implement strategies to minimize risks on time.

Ensure clear communication of project outcomes through regular reporting cadences, lead Steering Committee discussions, and effectively communicate project status and results.

Build a strong team of skilled and motivated individuals.

What will you need to be successful?

Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.

Experience: 1 year in engineering.

Competences: Proficiency in English (verbal and written).

Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.

Attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality results.

Excellent stakeholder management skills.

Ability to work independently, within a team, and collaboratively across teams

Good communicator with active listening skills.

Nice to have:  Experience in project management 

Proven ability to manage multiple programs simultaneously, balancing priorities effectively

Problem-solving mindset with the ability to adapt to changing program requirements.

Leadership capabilities to guide program teams and collaborate with clients.
