Job Description:
The Project Engineer, Electrical is responsible for the definition, planning, coordination, and execution of electromechanical product development, sustaining engineering, and manufacturing process improvement projects. He/she ensures project budget, project schedule, and product cost targets are accurately forecasted and executed to meet the requirements of the Company.
The Project Engineer, Electrical maintains regular communication with the project team, design partners, and management. Will have the opportunity to learn the innerworkings of the R&D department and the broader Orascoptic business.
The Project Engineer, Electrical executes product development in the areas of requirements specification, electromechanical design and documentation, design reviews, prototyping, design verification and validation, and manufacturing process and fixture design.
Responsibilities:
Evaluates and defines electromechanical parts and systems.Serves as electrical engineering lead, performing analysis, design, documentation, and prototyping as needed; reviewing designs and deliverables from design partners.Assures product quality by designing testing methods; testing prototypes; confirming manufacturing and assembly processes.Determines product/project specifications by studying product design, marketing/customer requirements, and performance standards; completing technical studies; preparing cost estimates.Plans/manages multiple projects simultaneously.Determines project schedule by studying project plan and specifications; calculating time requirements; sequencing project tasks.Determines project responsibilities by identifying project phases and tasks; assigning personnel to phases and tasks; reviewing bids from design partners.Maintains project schedule by monitoring project progress and risks; coordinating activities; resolving problems.Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.Support identification and qualification of design partners and suppliersResponsible for maintaining an emphasis on continuous improvementSupport Envista Business System and FDA/ISO compliance by adhering to all procedures and work instructionsJob Requirements:
Required:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalentMinimum 2 years' experience in engineering, product development, and project managementMust reside within a commutable distance to Madison, WI. This not a 'remote' opportunity.Preferred Skills:
Cross cultural experience managing product development through partnering and outsourcing. Protecting IP. Familiarity with Product Data Management (PDM) tools (Agile, Master Control).
