Operating within a Joint Venture framework for e2x as our Project Engineer – Mechanical (HVAC) you will be responsible for the delivery, coordination, and oversight of HVAC systems installation, testing, and commissioning across a major infrastructure project.

This role requires hands-on project delivery experience, managing subcontractors, ensuring compliance with client standards, and supporting the project team to achieve milestones safely, on time, and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

 

Project Delivery

Oversee the supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of HVAC and mechanical services, including chilled water systems, ventilation systems, Mechanical LV systems, and BMCS interfaces. Coordinate and review shop drawings, RFIs, ITPs, commissioning plans, and as-built documentation. Ensure subcontractor works comply with design, project specifications, NCC, BCA, and project requirements. Manage site engineering deliverables including penetration schedules, red-line mark-ups, and commissioning documentation. Provide day-to-day engineering and technical support to supervisors, site engineers, and subcontractors.

 

Stakeholder & Subcontractor Management Liaise with mechanical subcontractors, suppliers, and commissioning teams to ensure timely and quality delivery. Participate in coordination meetings with other trades (fire, hydraulics, electrical, BMCS). Manage interfaces with free-issued equipment (air cooled chillers, pumps, CRAC units, FCUs, etc.) and ensure seamless integration with subcontractor-installed systems. Assist with procurement reviews, material approvals, and technical submittals.

 

Quality, Safety & Compliance Ensure compliance with project safety standards, WHS legislation, and site-specific HSE requirements. Develop and maintain ITPs, checklists, QA/QC records, and compliance statements for HVAC works. Participate in risk workshops (HAZOP, HAZID, SID) and contribute to safety-in-design compliance. Support commissioning activities including integrated systems testing, cause & effect testing, and defect close-out.

 

Qualifications

 

Relevant tertiary qualifications (e.g. Mechanical Engineer).  Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) – preferred.  Membership of relevant Engineering Institutions (e.g. Engineers Australia) – preferred 3+ years’ HVAC project delivery experience in construction (Tier 1/Tier 2 contractor environment preferred). Proven background in the installation and commissioning of large-scale HVAC systems. Strong knowledge of Australian Standards, NCC, and relevant codes. Experience managing subcontractors, technical submittals, and QA/commissioning processes. Experience in rail or large public infrastructure projects
