Job Title: Project Director K-14 DSA
Job Description

The Project Director provides leadership in areas of project management and operations, overseeing one or multiple project teams. This role involves managing client relationships, internal administration, financial management, and employee development. The Project Director reports to the Area Manager and is responsible for planning, coordinating, and directing an Education Sector Bond program. The position supports design and construction in the education sector, ensuring projects are on budget, schedule, and meet client requirements.

ResponsibilitiesServe as the primary contact and liaison for owner and principal partner entities, overseeing contracts, design, systems, procedures, and related deliverables.Ensure timely completion of all deliverables required by the client.Develop and review contract documents to ensure compliance with construction and project requirements.Report and collaborate with the client's senior management team on all project matters.Implement a program quality management system and document/report all program/project data accurately and promptly.Manage program controls, cost, schedule, performance activities, and procedures required by the client.Ensure client satisfaction with our services on assigned projects.Track program and project level status, providing management reports on scheduling and cost control.Create and present program and project data clearly to multiple internal and external stakeholder groups.Develop recommended actions and assist in resolving disputes related to design and construction.Identify risks and create successful risk mitigation plans.Manage program logistics, organization, safety, and manpower utilization.Review and approve monthly invoices.Ensure contractor, architect, and engineer adhere to contractual requirements regarding safety, performance, project staff, and equipment.Conduct performance evaluations and supervise and mentor staff.Develop an implementation plan and master schedule reflecting district priorities.Provide financial reporting to the client and bond oversight committee.Represent the owner, project, and related parties in public forums and meetings.Ensure execution of project contract deliverables and reporting, including meeting minutes, construction reports, quality control reports, schedules, and documentation of work progression.Review and validate Change Orders COR/FCO.Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure program and project success.Essential SkillsBachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or equivalent.10+ years of experience providing project/program management services on education projects.Experience with Division of the State Architect (DSA) construction/design processes.Experience in managing the full construction lifecycle of higher education projects, including pre-construction, design phases, and oversight of constructability reviews.Advanced knowledge of construction estimating, cost, project controls/scheduling, documentation, engineering/construction principles, techniques, materials, applications, and practices.Thorough understanding of contracts, documents, drawings, and specifications.Applied experience in project accounting, cost, administrative, and personnel interaction in professional settings.Familiarity with California Department of Education (CDE) and Office of Public School Construction (OPSC).Excellent oral and written communication skills, decision-making capabilities, and problem resolution skills.Ability to coordinate with multiple Program & Project Management team members.Strong computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite products, SharePoint, and project-related systems.Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal forms, anticipate and resolve project design and construction challenges, and prioritize critical issues.Additional Skills & QualificationsSupervisory role over 3 Direct Reports: Project Managers and Project Engineers.Experience in alternative project delivery methods, including Design-Build.CMAA - Construction Manager in Training (CMIT) certification preferred.DBIA - Design Build Associate or Professional certification preferred.Registered Architect or Professional Engineer certification preferred.Work Environment

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $170000.00 - $185000.00/yr.
