This position requires attention to detail, the ability to follow safety procedures, and flexibility to work independently or as part of a team. Previous custodial or environmental services experience in a healthcare or similar setting is preferred. The Project Custodian must be able to lift and move equipment, use cleaning machinery, and follow standard operating procedures. Shift flexibility, including evenings or weekends, may be required depending on project needs.

Job ResponsibilitiesDemonstrates knowledge of, performs, and meets quality standards for routine daily floor care, waste/linen handling, and cleaning of all assigned areas following the prescribed 10 Step cleaning method
Follows infection control guidelines, including Universal Precautions, isolation precautions, proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and effective hand washing
Follows all safety guidelines while performing duties, including proper use of PPE, safe handling of chemicals, floor care equipment, linen/waste carts, furniture moving equipment, wet floor sign use, and reporting of safety concerns
Maintains all Environmental Services (EVS) equipment, supplies, janitor closets, EVS equipment rooms, and trash and linen chute rooms to required standards
Meets or exceeds all standards for completing project work effectively and efficiently, including scrubbing, stripping/refinishing floors, carpet cleaning, and wall washing
Proper use of electronic devices for communication, including completing “patient flow” responsibilities through the bed tracking system
Performs meeting room setups, office furniture moves, and bed moves as assigned
Follows all regulatory requirements when handling, transporting, and packaging regulated medical waste, municipal waste, linens, and confidential paper
Completes required logs and paperwork for all essential job duties
Demonstrates knowledge of, and follows, department policies and procedures
Will perform other duties as assigned
Position QualificationsMinimum Required:
Ability to comprehend and follow oral and/or written instructions in order to follow and identify precautions, hazardous material labeling, and other safety related written materials.Preferred:
High School Diploma or equivalent. One to two years housekeeping/environmental services and floor care experience.-----
