Project Controls Specialist II

Airswift is seeking a Project Controls Specialist to support a major utility client in the energy sector on a long-term contract assignment.
This role supports multiple active projects by providing intermediate-level project controls expertise, with a focus on scheduling, cost management, and performance tracking. The position is ideal for professionals with a solid foundation in project controls principles and experience with common industry software. Work is typically performed under general oversight, and candidates are expected to handle varied, moderately complex assignments independently.
This position may be hybrid, with remote flexibility based on manager approval and project needs.
Responsibilities: Provide cost and schedule support across multiple “Green I” or “Green II” projects per the PM Center of Excellence guidelines Assist with project planning, forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis, and risk tracking Utilize project management software such as Primavera (P6), MS Project, or similar tools to support schedule development and updates Generate project performance reports, dashboards, and earned value metrics Support financial tracking and reporting using tools such as MS Excel, Business Objects, or PeopleSoft Collaborate with engineering, construction, procurement, and other key stakeholders Support monthly reporting cycles and ensure data accuracy across control systems Help maintain compliance with internal processes and documentation standards
Requirements: Associate degree in business, finance, engineering, or a related technical field Minimum 2 years of experience in a project controls role (or 5+ years of relevant experience without a degree) Working knowledge of project controls principles such as scheduling, cost tracking, and reporting Proficiency with software tools such as MS Excel, scheduling platforms (Primavera P6, MS Project), and financial systems Strong communication and teamwork skills; ability to operate in cross-functional environments
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or technical field PMI or AACE certification (PMP, CAPM, PMI-SP, AACE-CCC, PSP, CEP, or EVP) Familiarity with tools such as Business Objects, Visio, Passport, Prolog, Powerplant, Emax, and PeopleSoft Experience supporting utility, infrastructure, or nuclear-related projects Ability to support multiple workstreams and adapt to shifting priorities in fast-paced environments
