Position Overview
The Project Controls Coordinator II is responsible for project and cost controls on maintenance capital work within the Asset Management team. This role supports the full Operations capital portfolio, managing variances, accruals, and reporting across the Prairie Region. You will assist in all levels of project execution, including work order/purchase order creation, cost tracking and reporting, portfolio reporting, accruals, forecasts, variances, records management, and project lifecycle support.
Key Responsibilities Track, update, and report on all capital projects within the Asset Management team Create, track, and close work orders and purchase orders Assist in project execution and management of Asset Management projects, including accruals, revisions, expenditure reporting, and variance analysis Provide portfolio-level support across Operations, including Oracle project setup and Copperleaf investment setup Generate regular and ad hoc analyses, graphs, summary tables, and presentations Establish and maintain portfolio-level reporting Collaborate with internal teams to monitor incurred costs against budgets and monthly forecasts Support Prairie Region with monthly forecast submissions, accruals, scope changes, and project setups Track key performance indicators Prepare project status reports with variance analysis for senior and project management Support cost controls throughout the project lifecycle, including change management Provide financial review and analysis as requested by Project Managers Submit and manage Capital AFE requests, revisions, and closures Forecast project costs and perform detailed cost variance analysis Assist with Oracle work order creation and management Support RFQs and RFPs as requested Prepare Copperleaf investments for the Operations Failure Allowance portfolio Requirements
Education & Experience: University degree or technical diploma in engineering, accounting, or a related field (other post-secondary education may be considered) Minimum 5 years of project controls or project management experience Strong understanding of pipeline and terminal operations Technical Skills: High proficiency in MS Excel (v-lookups, pivot tables, graphs, sumifs, etc.) Proficiency in MS Office Suite and Oracle/SAP Experience with financial forecasting, variance analysis, and reporting Ability to anticipate obstacles, challenges, and risks, and proactively develop mitigation strategies Soft Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong problem-solving, decision-making, organizational, and leadership abilities Collaborative and team-oriented mindset Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment Valid driver’s license Preferred: Proficiency with Power BI Membership in a professional society related to your education Project Management Professional (PMP) designation Experience with Copperleaf #LI-LM1
