The opportunity
Reporting to the Project Controls Manager, the Project Controller is responsible for managing project cost and forecasting. Additionally, creating and maintaining tools to control the administration of projects across the water business in SEQ.
The is a fulltime permanent role and will be based out of our office in Teneriffe with on-site parking available.
What you’ll do
Financial control of various projects including budget allocation from estimate based on agreed WBS, populate, maintain and forecast performance utilising established forecasting tools
Prepare and aid with the development of various project reports and dashboards
Ensuring sufficient investigation is undertaken of related budget prior to incurring commitments
Updating the ERP tool with project level financial position and forecasts
Project performance tracking – monitor status of projects by assessing key metrics within standard project reports
Assist with control of progress payment schedules to sub-contractors and suppliers by understanding payment terms, coding and change management
Work with project managers and estimators to establish project WBS and cost centre structures and allocate budgets on award of new projects in line with Downer requirements.
Assist project teams in ensuring accuracy of cost allocations to project and correct WBS cost capture centres.
Assist Project Managers in the preparation of the monthly estimate to complete forecasts, including the review of costs to date and commitment allocations, control of reporting tool.
Assist in the preparation of monthly project claims and prepare client invoices

What we’re looking for
Bachelor’s degrees/ tertiary qualification in related fields, such as engineering or project management preferred
5-10 years of experience in project controls on Engineering and Construction projects where extensive use of sub-contractors was deployed is desirable
Preferred (but not essential) to have knowledge and specialization of the following systems: InEight, JDE and Primavera P6.
Demonstrated Governance and Project controls capability
Project performance analysis, including evaluation of key project reports and metrics
Demonstrated process mapping/evaluation and improvement capability
Detail orientated; analytical and capable of effectively assessing data
Responsibility for delivering quality customer service when dealing with customers including application of organisation standards, initiative and problem solving
Ability to apply company processes and provide detailed information / advice on processes
