Our opportunity
We are looking to recruit a passionate and driven Project Controller to join Thales Underwater Systems (UWS) to support the SSNA AUKUS programme.
These are exciting times for Thales who are a key part in supporting the AUKUS partnership between the United Kingdom, Australia and the USA, ensuring that our front line maintains the operational advantage against a real and increasing threat, contributing significantly to the success of the SNN-A class’ acoustic superiority, through our highly skilled and dedicated team developing the next generation of cutting edge technologies and systems.
In support of the shipbuilder, Thales will seek to provide expert coordination and coherence among the major sonar systems to provide the cost effective and agile delivery of the next generation of sonar suite for SSN-AUKUS.
You will be responsible for providing PMO leadership in the delivery of our customer commitments supporting the Project Management Team by providing an effective specialised Project Control including the provision of accurate, integrated and meaningful bid and / or project planning and reporting. This will include monitoring, analysing and reporting on bid /project schedules to ensure that information is used in bid / project decision-making based upon the status of the most up to date schedule.
Some of the Key Responsibilities:
Produce and maintain a baseline schedule to underpin the project requirements ensuring the level of detail is correct for the type and complexity of project; tasks are logically linked correctly in accordance with the design lifecycle; all technical and non-technical requirements are reflected and all internal and external dependencies are accurately captured and linked to show any schedule impact on movement of dates.
Making use of layout to ensure that schedule can be easily presented and understood by the project team
Generate an accurate and meaningful critical path which can be communicated to the Project Team enabling issues to be reconciled and decisions made to assist in the recovery of slippage, where applicable.
Provide assistance in the development of Work Breakdown Structures for a project or work stream which effectively reflects and communicates the project to Stakeholders.
Create and maintaining accurate project resource profiles ensuring any overloads are easily identified for resolution.

About You:
You will have proven successful “hands-on” experience in planning; scheduling, data analysis & cost control within a complex engineering/manufacturing environment covering high level & detailed schedule compilation, programme reporting, budgeting & risk management and can demonstrate resilience
You will have ideally have working knowledge / application of scheduling tools such as Oracle Primavera and Microsoft Project
You will have a thorough understanding of planning techniques – for example; the application of critical path analysis, work breakdown structures etc…
You will have a high level of proficiency in the use of project planning tools and standard business administration software.
