The Integrated Design and Advisory business vertical is one of the business verticals at Michael Baker International with more than 850 professional located across the country. Integrated Design leverages the early involvement of all project stakeholders and key disciplines such as mechanical, electrical, plumbing, structural and fire protection (MEP+S+FP) engineering, as well as architecture and planning. Project Architect Job Requisition

Michael Baker International seeks a dynamic and skilled Project Architect to join our multi-disciplinary Architecture/Engineering Practice, focusing on a diverse portfolio of Federal and infrastructure-driven projects. This role is pivotal in delivering innovative design and documentation for a robust mix of Infrastructure architecture projects, including large and small Airport facilities, Department of Transportation facilities, Pedestrian Bridges, and Rail Transit facilities. Additionally, the role encompasses Federal Department of Defense and Federal Civilian facility projects, State, County, and Municipal facility projects, alongside market-driven opportunities in Commercial and Institutional work.

The Project Architect will collaborate within multi-disciplinary teams, including architects, interior designers, site/civil engineers, and building systems engineers, to deliver high-quality, constructible designs. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional creative problem-solving, organizational expertise, and advanced production management skills, with a strong emphasis on proficiency in Autodesk Revit and managing drawing production processes.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead design and documentation for Federal, Infrastructure, State, County, and Municipal projects, ensuring seamless integration of architectural elements. Manage drawing production processes using Autodesk Revit, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in deliverables. Develop detailed specifications to support project requirements and compliance. Review submittals and shop drawings to ensure alignment with design intent and project standards. Perform construction observation field reporting, documenting site progress and ensuring adherence to design and specifications. Lead small teams and engage directly with clients on select projects, fostering strong relationships and project success. Conduct planning, design, and construction documentation, including code analysis, studies, reports, sketches, schematic drawings, renderings, specifications, final contract documents, and as-built drawings. Collaborate with Project Managers to define functional and spatial requirements, preparing comprehensive design details, material selections, cost estimates, and construction timelines. Develop scale drawings and contract documents for building contractors, ensuring constructability and compliance. Perform Quality Control Reviews to maintain high standards across all deliverables. Maintain expertise in industry software, particularly Revit and BIM, to support project execution. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Proven experience in Infrastructure and Federal architecture projects, with specific expertise in Airport facilities, Department of Transportation facilities, Pedestrian Bridges, Rail Transit, or State/County/Municipal facilities. Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Revit, with demonstrated ability to manage drawing production processes. Competency in developing specifications, reviewing submittals and shop drawings, and performing construction observation field reporting. Strong organizational and production management skills, with a focus on delivering construction documents. Creative problem-solving and collaborative teamwork in a multi-disciplinary environment. Excellent communication skills for client interactions and team leadership.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

NAAB Accredited degree in Architecture (Masters is a plus) Professional Registration as an Architect in any U.S. Jurisdiction is strongly preferred. 10+ years related experience to include some similar Infrastructure, Federal, State, County and Municipal. Demonstrated proficiency in Building Information Modeling (BIM) Autodesk Revit Architecture, AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite Experience with Autodesk BIM 360 or VMware Horizon and similar platforms Experience with graphics/rendering software to communicate ideas quickly and effectively is preferred

COMPENSATION

The approximate compensation range for this position is $110,844 to $161,504. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting.  Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
