General Summary:

Director of Software Program Manager role is a Leadership role within the Server Business Unit Software team, focuses on Server Software teams, leading a team of Program Managers and contributes to managing the planning, development, and delivery of software for Qualcomm's Server Business Unit. In this leadership position, you will be responsible for setting strategic goals, mentoring team members, and fostering a collaborative environment that encourages innovation and excellence. You will drive the team's vision and ensure alignment with the overall business objectives.

You will develop, define, and execute plans, including schedules, budgets, resources, deliverables, and risks. You will oversee the program from start to finish, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders on technical matters. Additionally, you will ensure on-time delivery, achieve program milestones, and drive alignment across stakeholders, leveraging your leadership skills to navigate complex challenges and inspire your team to achieve their best work.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• 8+ years of Program Management or related work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related field.

PMP Certification and/or Agile Certification

15 - 19+ years Program Management or Engineering Leadership experience or related work experience.

2+ years experience with agile program management tools such as Jira and Confluence.

5+ years of work experience in a role requiring interaction with senior leadership (e.g., Director level and above).

5+ years working with operating budgets, resources, and/or project financials.

5+ years in firmware development

10+ years experience working in a large matrixed organization.

10+ years experience with software/firmware development

Develop, define, and execute plans:

Strategic Vision: Drive requirements scoping, analysis, and planning including interdependencies, staffing constraints, and schedule optimization across multiple tech teams and customers. Set clear, long-term goals and guide the team towards them.

Prioritization: Establish a clear Plan of Record commitment and drive prioritization. Make decisive choices that align with overall business objectives.

Consistency in Execution: Apply consistency and best practices through program initiation, planning, execution, and closing phases, enabling business outcomes and benefits tracking. Ensure that all team members adhere to defined processes.

Collaboration: Collaborate with key stakeholders and program sponsors to develop program goals, set the prioritization of deliverables, discuss involvement of business processes (e.g., program change management, communication), and drive decisions necessary for on-time delivery.

Influence and Negotiation: Skillfully negotiate and align goals with stakeholders to ensure comprehensive support and shared vision.

Communication Excellence: Facilitate open communication channels, ensuring all stakeholders are informed and engaged throughout the program lifecycle.

Decision-Making: Lead discussions to drive critical decisions, ensuring alignment and commitment from all parties involved.

Manage program health and execution:

Possess strong leadership skills to oversee program health, ensuring timely SW deliverables and effective risk management/risk mitigation.

Establish rigorous execution discipline & communication process:

o Exhibit leadership in establishing risk management, mitigation, tracking, schedule trends vs baseline, recovery actions, executive reporting & stakeholder communication.

Develop program indicators to manage program health:

o Utilize leadership to develop program indicators, ensuring quality and timelines are maintained.

Promote program vision and objectives within the team:

o Demonstrate leadership in promoting program vision and objectives, ensuring program goals are met or exceeded, present program vision to management, and gain buy-in from stakeholders.

Additional responsibilities:

Promote organizational understanding of Agile roles, lead teams and individuals.

Develop and manage the execution of the program Plan of Record (e.g., on time, on budget, within scope) for multiple medium-sized programs which include schedule and resource forecasting, stakeholder identification, method and frequency of communication, scope, and prioritization.

Establish key program metrics and manage teams to take action outside their comfort zone to ensure program success when metrics deviate from Plan of Record.

Identify and secure resources to ensure alignment of the team with program/technology demand for multiple medium-sized programs with moderate complexity.

Drive teams to identify program issues/risks and create a risk mitigation plan for multiple medium-sized or a single complex program(s). Maintain and update the risk tracker.

Demonstrate adaptive leadership to inspire and guide teams through changes and challenges.

Foster an environment of continuous learning and improvement, encouraging team members to develop their skills and knowledge.

Mentor and coach team members to enhance their performance and professional growth.

Pay range and Other Compensation & Benefits:

$218,300.00 - $327,500.00

The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted.
