**Primary Function/General Purpose of Position**
The Program Director, Online Nursing Education serves as the lead for all online nursing programs, as well as the key reviewer and knowledge expert for all online/hybrid coursework within nursing. The Program Director works in collaboration with Distance Education to provide high quality online educational programs across the nursing curriculum. The Program Director for Online Nursing Education in collaboration with the Dean of Nursing, and other nursing program directors will lead a faculty mentoring program for best practices in online and distance education.
**Essential Job Functions**
+ Oversight of online graduate, undergraduate, and post-licensure nursing programs along with administrative operations including faculty and staff development and evaluation, workload, sequencing of courses and/or clinical sites, budget preparation and management, and coordination of the program advisory committees while keeping the Academic Dean continuously informed and involved.
+ In collaboration with the Academic Dean and faculty colleagues, develops and implements curriculum and completes internal and external review, assessment, and institutional effectiveness processes (i.e., annual reports and accreditation reports; and maintains all necessary components of program accreditation including maintenance and revision of the Systematic Plan of Evaluation (SPE), collecting data as defined in the SPE, assessing the data, and recommending changes based on results of the data).
+ Coordinate and maintain compliance with standards of accreditation and regulation specific to distance education.
+ Demonstrate expertise in online teaching and online course development.
+ According to current Faculty rank, teaches, serves (program, division, faculty, college, and community) and engages in scholarship. Teaching may be in any of the Mercy College nursing programs.
+ Collaborates with colleagues and participates in student recruitment, retention, advising, and other success initiativesto support students.
+ Develops, supports, and leads ongoing projects, new initiatives, and new graduate and post-licensure nursing programs (e.g., program, division, and college) independently and as assigned.
+ Participates in the selection, orientation, supervision, and evaluation of faculty teaching in the online graduate and post-licensure nursing programs, and nursing faculty teaching online/hybrid courses.
+ Maintains current knowledge of trends, best practices, educational methodologies, and online pedagogy in nursing.
+ Serves as a resource and professional role model for faculty, staff, and students within the program and a collegial partner to colleagues at the College.
+ In collaboration with the Dean of Nursing develop and implement a robust faculty orientation and mentoring program for distance education.
+ Provides ongoing mentoring to faculty related to scholarship and rank and promotion.
+ Serves as the key contributor to ensure accreditation standards are met in online course delivery.

**Licensing/Certification**
Current RN License in the state in which they are working or covered by compact (required)
Online Teaching Certification, Online Learning Consortium (preferred)
Certified Nurse Educator, National League for Nursing (preferred)
**Education**
PhD or DNP in Nursing (If Doctorate is not in Nursing, then must have a Master of Science in Nursing) (required)
PhD, DNP, or EdD in Nursing Education (preferred)
**Work Experience**
2 years' experience as a nursing faculty member (required)
3 years' experience as a progressive leader in higher education (required)
Expertise in online teaching (required)
Experience with nursing curriculum design and course development (required)
Experience with academic accreditation (required)
4 years' experience in progressive leadership, including supervisory experience as a coordinator or Chair of academic initiatives within an academic program (preferred)
Experience working in a shared governance system, program administration, and evaluation (preferred)
