Program Director - Athletics (Game/Event Operations) Bookmark this Posting Print Preview | Apply for this Job Posting Details Position Information Job Title Program Director - Athletics (Game/Event Operations) Full Time/Part Time Full Time FLSA Exempt General Job Description This is a professional position responsible for overseeing the staging of all home intercollegiate athletic events and the implementation of the conference and National Collegiate Athletic Association ( NCAA ) rules and regulations pertaining to game management activities. Serves as liaison to outside groups using athletic department facilities and troubleshoots potential conflicts with existing scheduled events. Oversees the department calendar, including the scheduling of team practices, games, and non-athletic department events. Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Reports to the Senior Associate Athletics Director for Internal Affairs. Essential Job Functions 1. Coordinates the preparation of the overall calendar of events for the Department of Athletics in conjunction with the head coaches and other personnel involved with facility scheduling and services. 2. Oversees the staging and management of home athletic events, including the hosting of pre-season tournaments and championships. 3. Coordinates all SFA -involved conference and NCAA championship events. 4. Acts as the coordinator for University Interscholastic League ( UIL ) athletic events hosted by the university. 5. Serves as departmental liaison to game management entities, including but not limited to concessionaries, ticketing staff, University Police Department, the band, and spirit groups. 6. Negotiates facility rental agreements and contracts on behalf of the university. 7. Disseminates necessary information to visiting intercollegiate teams concerning trip procedures, including but not limited to restaurant and hotel guides and campus maps. 8. Oversees the execution of game confirmation letters to all opponents pursuant to conference policy. Non-Essential Job Functions 1. Adheres to all applicable NCAA , conference, and university rules and regulations. 2. Attends university, conference, NCAA , and other organizational meetings as assigned. 3. Performs other related duties as assigned. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation. 1. Knowledge of, or the ability to learn, university policies and procedures. 2. Knowledge of, or ability to learn, policies, procedures, and guidelines established by the conference, NCAA , and UIL . 3. Knowledge of facility rental agreements and contracts. 4. Skill in using computer applications including spreadsheet, database, and word processing software. 5. Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail. 6. Organizational skills in managing projects simultaneously while maintaining a satisfactory work product. 7. Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form. 8. Ability to set priorities and complete assignments on time. 9. Ability to problem-solve a variety of situations. 10. Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships. 11. Ability to work with and maintain confidential information. 12. Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary. Physical Demands Required Education Bachelor’s degree is required. Required Experience and Training Two years of related experience is required. Experience in athletic event planning and coordination is required. Experience with NCAA intercollegiate athletics is required. Preferred Qualifications Experience with NCAA Division I intercollegiate athletics is preferred, Special Conditions for Eligibility This is a security-sensitive position subject to criminal record check. This is an IT-sensitive position subject to the Computer and Network Security policy. Min Pay Rate Mid Pay Rate Salary Information Commensurate with Experience, Salary Grade - 10 Specific Job Requirements/Duties for this Posting This position requires work on nights and weekends as events require. May also require event coverage on holidays. Is Background Check Required?
