Purpose of Role

The Program Director will lead the implementation of the approved vision for the Enterprise Program Management Office (EPMO) within the Minerals division. This includes building the structure, processes, and governance needed to manage programs consistently and effectively across the organization.

The initial focus will be on new product development programs, guiding them from concept through industrialization and launch. Over time, the Program Director will expand oversight to include all program types within the division, ensuring alignment with business priorities, efficient resource use, and strong execution across the full portfolio.

This role requires a strategic leader with the ability to manage complex initiatives, drive cross-functional collaboration, and build a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Enterprise Program Management Office (EPMO) Development

Lead the implementation of the approved vision for the Enterprise Program Management Office (EPMO) within the Minerals division.Build and operationalize standardized governance, tools, and processes to ensure consistent, high-quality program execution across the organization.Develop and scale program management capabilities by mentoring, guiding, and influencing a cross-functional team of program and project managers—most of whom will be aligned through dotted-line reporting relationships.Promote a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement in program delivery.

Portfolio Oversight & Strategic Alignment

Provide oversight of the full Minerals program portfolio, ensuring alignment with divisional strategy, resource optimization, and delivery of business value.Initially focus on new product development programs, with future expansion to include all program types across the division.Monitor portfolio performance, manage interdependencies, and ensure programs are prioritized and executed in line with business objectives.Identify and manage risks at the portfolio level, implementing mitigation strategies to address systemic challenges.

Change Management & Stakeholder Engagement

Lead change management efforts to support the adoption of the EPMO and new governance practices across the division.Engage and align stakeholders at all levels to build buy-in, manage resistance, and ensure successful transformation.Serve as the primary point of contact for program-related communications, providing clear updates to executive leadership and key stakeholders.

Program Management

As needed, directly lead select programs to ensure continuity, maintain momentum, and model best practices while program management capabilities are being developed and scaled across the division.

Safety, Compliance & Environmental Stewardship

Champion a safety-first culture, ensuring compliance with Zero Harm principles and all relevant safety regulations.Align program objectives with environmental and sustainability goals.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related fieldProfessional certification in project or program management (e.g., PMP, PgMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent).Willingness and ability to travel 20% globally.15+ years of progressive experience in program management, with a proven track record of leading complex, cross-functional programs in industrial or manufacturing environments.Demonstrated success in establishing and leading a Program Management Office (PMO) or EPMO.Exceptional leadership and stakeholder management skills.Strong understanding of methodologies such as new product introduction, advanced product quality planning, and lean manufacturingProficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet, Jira, Confluence).Familiarity with change management frameworks (e.g., Prosci, ADKAR) and their application in large-scale organizational change.
