Responsibilities Description of Position: FUNCTION: Assist with the care of children grade K – 6 in our before & afterschool program. Always providing the safest environment for all children involved. DUTIES: + Assist with the care of each child who is part of our program + Assist with homework help and encourage engaging play for those without homework + Assist with snacks, clean up of the same, instructing children to clean up their own space + Share creative ideas with staff for excellence in program and beneficial to children + Clean up program area as assigned, including after each project and teaching children to do the same + Report concerns and/or medical incidents to supervisor on staff immediately. + Help children to grow and learn while having fun + Support and affirm the Mission of The Salvation Army while on Salvation Army duty + Other job related duties as assigned Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: + Must be at least 16 years of age + Previous experience working with children helpful + Patient and understanding attitude working with children from various background + Child Protection Clearances PA Act 153 requires that all prospective employees complete the following clearance and background checks: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check. + Must have an understanding of and appreciation for the Mission of The Salvation Army.
