Full-Time Professional Staff Nurse - EP Lab Location: UPMC Hamot Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM No weekends, no holidays, and no on-call _Note: Inpatient add-on cases may occur, providing overtime opportunities._ Position Summary: Join our highly specialized, fast-paced Electrophysiology (EP) Lab and become part of a dynamic, cutting-edge field of procedural nursing. As a Professional Staff Nurse in the EP Lab, you will gain expertise in: + Procedural nursing with a focus on conscious sedation + Assisting with pacemaker/defibrillator device implants + Arrhythmia management through ablation using advanced computer systems + Active participation in cardioversion procedures Why UPMC? You will demonstrate clinical expertise, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, and contribute to continuous improvement in patient outcomes. Key Responsibilities: + Build strong relationships with patients, families, and colleagues through effective communication and accountability + Provide patient and family education based on adult learning principles + Apply the nursing process and Relationship-Based Care model to deliver holistic, individualized care + Use sound clinical judgment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills to ensure safe, high-quality care + Engage in unit-based initiatives, professional development, and shared governance activities + Support evidence-based practice and quality improvement projects + Serve as a mentor and preceptor for new staff and nursing students + All other duties assigned + 0-2 years of RN experience required + BSN preferred (but not required) + Must be able to effectively interact with patients across the lifespan + Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity procedural environment + Strong communication, critical thinking, and clinical decision-making skills Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: + Licensure: Active RN license in the state of PA or a participating state in the Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) + CPR: AHA-approved Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of hire + ACLS: Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification required within 1 year of hire + Graduate Nurses: Registered Nurse (RN) or Temporary Practice Permit (TPP) Graduate nurses must complete licensure examination within SIX MONTHS of hire or within one year of graduation, whichever comes first. Though temporary permits are valid for one year from the date of graduation, not one year from issue of permit (or until the results of the examination are known at which time it becomes null and void), UPMC requires that GNs take the licensure examination within 6 months of their start date or they will be terminated or demoted from the GN position, at the discretion of the BU. + Other Clearances: Act 34 Clearance required *Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
