Responsibilities:
Builds strong, respectful working relationships with patients, families, and team members while demonstrating accountability, motivation, and cultural sensitivity.
Communicates safety concerns effectively to peers and leadership to support a safe work environment.
Must demonstrate knowledge and skills to provide age-appropriate care, including understanding growth and development across the lifespan.
Ability to assess and respond to patient needs based on age-specific data and departmental protocols.
0–2 years of experience; BSN preferred.
Strong interpersonal skills to maintain positive relationships with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
Effective in managing multiple priorities within a dynamic, complex environment; proficient in using specialized equipment.
Critical thinking, clinical judgment, and problem-solving abilities required.
Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting, and patient positioning.
Flexibility to work rotating shifts or participate in special shift programs (e.g., nights/weekends with premium pay) after 6 months of nursing experience.
Licensure & Certifications:
Current RN license or Temporary Practice Permit (TPP) in PA or multistate compact license.
BLS/CPR (AHA-compliant) required within 30 days of hire; ACLS required within 1 year of hire/transfer.
Graduate Nurses must pass licensure exam within 6 months of hire or 1 year from graduation (whichever comes first).
Act 34 Clearance required; national certification preferred.
Educates patients and families using adult learning principles to support care transitions and ongoing health needs.
Serves as a resource and mentor to students, new staff, and peers; may function as a preceptor.
Applies the nursing process through Relationship-Based Care to develop individualized, holistic patient care plans.
Demonstrates clinical judgment and critical thinking in assessing and addressing complex patient needs.
Communicates effectively across care teams to coordinate care and advocate for patient-centered improvements.
Actively engages in personal professional development and unit-based shared governance initiatives.
Embraces and adapts to change while promoting a positive practice environment and culture of teamwork.
Participates in and leads quality improvement initiatives, using evidence-based practices to enhance care and patient satisfaction.
