Professional Staff Nurse, Pre-Admission Call Room

UPMC East Hospital is searching for an experienced nurse to support our Pre-Admission Call Room! 

Location: UPMC East Hospital, Monroeville, PA
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM or 8:00 AM–4:30 PM
Status: Full-time | No weekends, holidays, or on-call required

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly organized and clinically experienced Registered Nurse to join our Pre-Admission Call Room team. This specialized role is vital in preparing surgical patients for successful outcomes by ensuring all pre-operative requirements are met well in advance of their procedures.

What You’ll Do: Conduct pre-admission phone calls with surgical patients to review medical history and provide pre-op instructions Review patient charts for completeness, including: Cardiac clearances EKGs History and physicals Collaborate closely with anesthesia providers and OR scheduling teams Ensure all documentation is in place to support safe and timely surgical care Preferred Experience: ICU experience Pre-op or PACU experience Previous pre-admission or surgical services experience What Makes This Role Unique: Predictable Schedule: Monday–Friday only — no weekends, no holidays, no call Up to $15,000 sign on bonus for experienced nurses! Responsibilities:

Practices solid communication skills and is able to articulate and translate the patient’s condition to other care providers and to negotiate and make recommendations for changes in patient care and unit practices. Patient documentation is comprehensive and promotes communication between caregivers. Demonstrates critical thinking in the identification of clinical, social, safety, psychological and spiritual issues for the patient care within an episode of care. Incorporates national professional organization as well as business unit and health system’s goals to improve patient safety, quality and satisfaction of the patient experience in daily work. Creates a caring and compassionate patient focused experience by building healing relationships with patients, families and colleagues. Builds and mends relationships among colleagues within the framework of a healthy workplace. Role models keen cultural awareness including preventing and addressing horizontal violence and impairment. Maintains a conscious balance between work and personal life through prioritization and delegation of responsibilities. Identifies opportunities for clinical quality as well as workplace improvement.
