The Position Licensed Professional Engineers provide professional services involving the application of engineering principles and data, or activities in connection with public or private utilities, structures, buildings, machines, equipment or projects impacting the public welfare or the safeguarding of life, health or property. Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training. Incumbent assists the Resident Engineer and Assistant Resident Engineer with administrating highway construction projects of a diverse and complex nature; interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating construction engineering assignments involving unique or controversial problems; provide training and guidance to staff to ensure that the contractors activities are monitored and documented in accordance with design specifications and contractual requirements; maintaining and managing a construction field office including correspondence and all contract documents; maintaining and managing a construction field laboratory including facilities to perform all field tests required on the contract; and representing the Department for assigned projects at meetings and conferences. Incumbents possess knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others. This position may work in an office setting or outside in urban and rural environments in various temperatures and climates.
