The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

The Position
Licensed Professional Engineers provide professional services involving the application of engineering principles and data, or activities in connection with public or private utilities, structures, buildings, machines, equipment or projects impacting the public welfare or the safeguarding of life, health or property.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
Incumbent assists the Resident Engineer and Assistant Resident Engineer with administrating highway construction projects of a diverse and complex nature; interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating construction engineering assignments involving unique or controversial problems; provide training and guidance to staff to ensure that the contractors activities are monitored and documented in accordance with design specifications and contractual requirements; maintaining and managing a construction field office including correspondence and all contract documents; maintaining and managing a construction field laboratory including facilities to perform all field tests required on the contract; and representing the Department for assigned projects at meetings and conferences. Incumbents possess knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others. This position may work in an office setting or outside in urban and rural environments in various temperatures and climates. This position may work alternative shifts outside of traditional business hours (overtime, nights, weekends, holidays, and long-term travel on per diem) and may need to report to work with little to no notice. ***THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE WITHOUT FURTHER NOTICE DEPENDING ON THE NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Current Licensure as a Professional Engineer (P.E.)
Special Notes
A person that is a licensed Professional Engineer in another state must become licensed as a Professional Engineer in Nevada within six months of appointment as a condition of employment.
Special Requirements
A valid drivers license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
As a condition of employment, pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety.- Persons offered employment in this position must first submit to a pre-employment screening test for controlled substances.
Registration as a Professional Engineer is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
