The Professional Counselor I/II, under general supervision, supports the overall wellness of the campus community through the delivery of direct services to students and outreach and consultation to the larger campus community. The Counselor's primary responsibility is providing multiculturally competent mental health counseling to individuals and groups both in-person and via telehealth. This position supports outreach and training efforts with campus partners including (but not limited to) Student Activities, Residence Life, academic departments, Athletics, Fraternity and Sorority Life, etc.
Work hours are Monday-Thursday; 11 AM-8 PM, Friday 8-5 or as work requirements indicate. Occasional alternative hours / weekends required. This position is located on-site at the Fort Worth, Texas Campus. Occasional travel to the Stephenville, Texas campus or other offsite locations for university events required.
Responsibilities:
65% Renders individual and group counseling to students struggling with developmental or personal issues. Groups may include process, psychoeducation, and / or drop-in workshop-style groups. May provided limited supervision to student employees and / or clinical interns.
10% Case Management & Consultation: Provides timely documentation of counseling services per State licensure requirements and Counseling Services policies. Coordinates care with other providers as appropriate. Participates in clinical consultation and staffing.
10% Crisis Intervention: Serves as a resource to the university community in matters of crisis intervention. Participates in on-call crisis rotation.
5% External Consultation & Liaison: Provide consultation for faculty / staff / community regarding mental health topics and / or students of concern. Build partnerships with community stakeholders.
5% Other responsibilities as assigned
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications by Level:
Professional Counselor I:
Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Clinical Psychology, or other specialty related to job function
Eligible for licensure as a Texas Licensed Professional Counselor - Associate (LPC-Associate), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Certified School Counselor, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Masters Social Worker (LMSW), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). Must maintain licensure/certification for continued employment.
Practical/field placement relevant to counseling in a public-school environment, or supervised experience related to job function.
Strong skills in working effectively with a variety of individuals and groups.
Professional Counselor II:
Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Clinical Psychology, or other specialty related to job function.
Active licensure in Texas as an LPC, LMFT, or LCSW.
Minimum of 3,000 supervised post-licensure clinical hours (specific requirements vary by licensure type).
Strong skills in working effectively with a variety of individuals and groups.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of standard Office software (Word, PowerPoint, Excel etc).
Excellent written communication, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills
Adherence to the ethical principles and code of conduct for the relevant Texas State Licensing Board and all relevant laws for the State of Texas
Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others
Ability to present information clearly and concisely
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiar and comfortable with cognitive-behavior therapy, dialectical-behavior therapy, and solution-focused, brief therapy.
Full licensure (LPC, LCSW, LMFT etc.)
Experience working in a university counseling center
Experience with Titanium software
Outreach and training experience

The target base annual salary range is commensurate and may be negotiable based on funding availability and candidate experience/skillset in relation to the minimum requirements of this position.
