Productivity Director - Patient Care Solutions
Job Description SummaryThe Variable Cost Productivity (VCP) Director plays a pivotal role within the Patient Care Solutions (PCS) Integrated Supply Chain team, responsible for driving cost-out initiatives, enhancing operational efficiency, and delivering sustainable margin improvements across the PCS portfolio. This position requires a strong foundation in supply chain, sourcing, or engineering leadership, along with a demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional collaboration and execute strategic initiatives effectively.

Job Description

Strategic Leadership

Develop and execute a structured VCP strategy aligned with PCS business goals.

Own the VCP funnel and reporting cadence, ensuring visibility and accountability across all segments.

Lead governance and stage gate reviews for VCP projects, ensuring financial rigor and execution discipline.

PCS-Specific Strategic Execution

Implement a hybrid cost-out operating model that centralizes scalable capabilities (e.g., teardown labs, should-cost modeling, supplier analytics) while decentralizing clinical, regulatory, and execution decisions to subsegments.

Drive material design productivity (MDV) and purchase price variance (PPV) initiatives across the funnel, ensuring alignment with PCS’s 2025 VCP targets.

Project Execution & Management

Coordinate horizontal supplier consolidation and BOM sign-offs for NPI initiatives.

Ensure integration of post-market feedback and risk management into VCP planning.

Track funnel maturity stages and apply risk-adjusted savings models in alignment with finance.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Partner with Engineering, Sourcing, Operations, and NPI leaders to align on project priorities and resource allocation.

Facilitate collaboration across subsegments to scale successful practices and uplift underdeveloped areas.

Capability Ownership

  Oversee centralized capabilities such as:

Should-Cost Modeling

Teardown / VA-VE Labs

Supplier Cost Analytics

Design for Manufacturability (DFM)

Lifecycle Cost Modeling / TCO Analysis

Cost-Out Governance (Stage Gates, Audit)

Coordinate with subsegments on decentralized responsibilities like:

Clinical & Regulatory Trade-off Decisions

V&V and Risk Management

Post-Market Feedback Integration

Qualifications

Proven experience in supply chain, sourcing, or engineering leadership roles.

Strong background in Lean, Six Sigma, and cost analytics.

Ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence without direct authority.

Experience with SmartSheet, Tableau, and VCP tracking tools preferred.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
