**Work Location:** Oshawa, Ontario
**Work Schedule:** Monday to Friday (8-hour shifts, with 2 weeks of day shifts and 2 weeks of afternoon shifts).

**Position Summary**
Working as a member of the team the Production Technician is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of various manufacturing and distribution processes to meet the company and customer’s expectations for quality and delivery of products.
This job can involve working on a variety of processes and therefore is split into three levels for training and job grading purposes. A Production Technician will start as a level one and work up to a level three.
**Salary:** $19.00 (hourly)
**Responsibilities:**
+ Operates complex machinery for manufacturing and joining plastic handrails. Performs maintenance, changes dies/extruders, and splices handrails to precise tolerances using hand tools.
+ Operates machinery to manufacture rubber handrails, assembles, splices, reworks defects, and adjusts molding equipment for style changes.
+ Sets up and operates Elevator Cut Line machinery. Retrieves and prepares cable, scans "Inventory Label" and "Cut Label" for accuracy, pulls cable through the "clock," attaches it to the reel, cuts to length, and wraps for shipping and identify parcel with a "Cut ticket"
+ Operates and sets up machines to slit, cut, extrude, join, or pre-assemble rubber materials. Adjusts equipment and changes dies for different styles and sizes.
+ Operates and sets up the bending machine and router to prepare brush holders and other parts.
+ Ensures inventory accuracy by labeling and tracking material discrepancies.
+ Keeps the workplace clean and organized to ensure efficient processes and defect-free products.
+ Handles special projects in the manufacturing areas as needed.
+ Packages finished parts according to approved methods and standards.
+ Health, Safety, and Integrated Management System: Maintains a safe and healthy environment by adhering to company Health & Safety policies, complies with current legislation, follows Draka EHC’s IMS procedures to reduce environmental impact, and ensures quality service by upholding Draka EHC standards and ISO procedures.
+ Inspection & Testing: Measures products with analog and digital gauges, visually inspects them against established standards, places suspected non-conforming products on hold, and maintains SPC graphs to adjust processes based on negative trends.
+ Reports & Administration & Other Related Duties: Maintains quality records in compliance with established standards, completes final inspection, inventory accuracy, and productivity reports, and prepares Certificates of Quality as required.
+ Training: May be asked to train other employees as requested by the Production Supervisor.
+ Team Effort: Collaborates with team members to support efforts, achieve team goals, and continuously improve processes and products.
**Knowledge and skill requirements** :
+ Completion of high school.
+ 3 years of experience in production processes using complex machinery is considered an asset.
+ High degree of hand-eye coordination required, with the ability to consistently handle over 35 kg and stand for extended periods.
+ Proven experience in inspection and testing within an ISO 9000-accredited manufacturing company.
+ Solid working knowledge of Quality Concepts, Basic SPC, blueprint reading, and inspection.
+ Proficient in ERP software, Microsoft Word, and email communication.
