PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF FUNCTION
The Production Supervisor will effectively manage production planning and implementation to execute production schedules released by Scheduling department. The Production Supervisor must ensure positive team development and execution of individual duties by promoting and facilitating safety, personnel training, individual performance, departmental communication, and task delegation. The Production Supervisor will communicate with Scheduling, Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, Accounting, Safety, and Human Resources as required to support the completion of routine department operations to ensure optimal production in a cost-effective manner and in compliance with company policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
Manage and improve of all aspects of safety and best operational practices in the department. Manage department staffing to create a safety conscious, trained, and engaged team to augment productive workflows. Manage and improve the quality of goods made within the department. Ensure product is created to specification and suggest improvements where necessary. Participate in inventory control protocols and ensure accuracy of department data. Adhere to production targets and create action plans when shortfalls become evident. Participate in and lead continuous improvement initiatives within and without the department.Train department personnel in best practices and complete documentation as required. Enforce company policies and procedures as needed to include documentation of actions taken. Communicate effectively with Plant Management and supporting departments in service of meeting production goals. Be a contributing member of the Eastern management team and demonstrate strong work habits, collaboration, and excellent communication to subordinates and peers.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
At least 3 years of progressive responsibility and successful management in a manufacturing environment. Proven working knowledge and practical use of Lean Manufacturing principles and process improvement tools. Knowledge of high-volume manufacturing systems.Computer literate in Microsoft Office suite. Solid working knowledge of material flows and the recording and monitoring of all transactions in the manufacturing environment. Understanding of production control methods and quality systems. Thorough understanding and ability to link improvements to bottom-line results. Proven record of building rapport with subordinates and peers while creating a culture of continuous improvement. Proven ability to implement and manage safety and housekeeping protocols to ensure optimal work environments. Ability to prioritize and manage production goals with improvement projects.
EDUCATION, CREDENTIALS & EXPERIENCE
Associate degree preferred At least 3 years of experience in an industrial / manufacturing environment
