Benefits starting as of first day of employment, no waiting period! 401k with a great company match! 2nd Shift Production Supervisor Mon-Thurs, 4:30pm - 3:00am Job Summary: This position is responsible for overseeing manufacturing processes by managing staff on the production floor and coordinating resources in an assembly environment. This position plans and assigns work, implements policies and procedures, and recommends improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions. Essential Functions*: + Manage department priorities to ensure production run rates are being met. + Understand and communicate objectives to production associates with clear, accurate, and thorough detail. + Manage departmental performance measures, including visual controls and provide regular progress reports to Manager and first shift. + Make operational decisions with minimal direction from upper management when necessary. + Balance quality, productivity, cost, safety and morale to achieve positive results in all areas. + Maintain proper inventory levels and ensure accurate WIP, raw and scrap counts. Understand and require the use of the SPC system where applicable to help control the process. Shut down operations to make corrections to the process when it makes sense to do so. + Determine training requirements for production operators and ensure OJT is completed by adhering to the applicable quality policies. + Ensure operators are cross trained in order to be able to support various departments as operational needs change. + Ensure lean principles and continuous improvement efforts are implemented and maintained in all production departments. Make suggestions and encourage others to make suggestions to improve quality and productivity improvements. + Ensure work areas are kept clean and orderly and 5S standards are met in all production areas. + Know and understand Fire Evacuation Procedure, Spill Response Procedure, and other applicable EH&S procedures specific to Production. + Look for unsafe conditions and take corrective action to prevent accidents. Report and investigate the causes of any accidents and near misses and take corrective action to prevent a recurrence. + Ensure effective employee relations by leading by example. Provide employee coaching and development through equitable and constructive feedback. + Make employment decisions based on company policies, including hiring and disciplinary actions. + Resolve employee issues through problem resolution and root cause analysis. + Council employees on their performance, both good and bad, and encourage opinions/ideas. + Track department headcount, absenteeism and timekeeping. + Ensure production staff adhere to all company policies and procedures. For example; timely and accurate reporting of inventory transfers and production data, prompt shift starting and stopping times, length of employee’s breaks, etc. + Other job duties as assigned. Education / Training / Skills / Experience: + High School Diploma/GED required. Technical degree and engineering background strongly preferred. + A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in a manufacturing environment is required. + A minimum of 2 years of Supervisory experience required. + Must have thorough knowledge of manufacturing methods, techniques and related equipment. + Must have a general knowledge of ISO requirements and a working knowledge of those requirements as they pertain to the provision of document / record control and training in support of product manufacture. + Strong leadership skills with good written and oral communication is required. + Basic skills in conflict management techniques required. + Basic ability to perform new hire interviews and skill assessments. + Ability to maintain composure in a fast-paced environment where changes may need to be made frequently to support customer needs. + Ability to effectively communicate. + Ability to problem solve, use good judgement to make decisions while maintaining quality standards, use critical thinking to organize and plan job tasks for staff while maintaining production efficiency. + Working knowledge of simple SPC charting, JIT, managing constraints. + Working knowledge of MS Office products. Knowledge of time keeping systems. (ADP preferred) + Able to read and follow written or verbal procedures. + Adhere to all safety regulations (wearing of safety glasses, respirator when necessary, etc.). + Ability to work around the following chemicals; electrolyte, acetone, & Isopropyl Alcohol. Physical Requirements: + Occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. + Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision to visually inspect product for quality and distinguish small detail. + Frequently required to sit or stand for extended periods of time and talk or hear. + Frequently required to use hands to grasp, handle, or feel objects. + Frequently required to use hands for repetitive action such as pushing, pulling, and grasping small parts. + Frequently required to stand and walk around the production floor. *Employees must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
