Production Planner

Role Summary:

The role’s primary responsibility is to perform demand based planning functions including manufacturing planning to meet customer requirements, scheduling, expediting products through the manufacturing process, managing inventories to sufficient levels and coordinating with all support activities including purchasing, inventory control, production, quality, and shipping to support goal of 100% on-time delivery performance. Role requires a self- motivated team player with strong leadership, interpersonal, and communications skills.

This is a first shift position, Monday to Friday 6 AM - 3PM

Relocation assistance is provided.

Responsibilities

Plan and schedule assigned product lines based on production capacity & material availability. 

Schedule and issue Assembly work orders to support manufacturing and spare parts requirements.

Conduct a final review of material availability prior to placing work orders into production.

Revise production schedule as necessary based on the availability of material and/or labor.

Ensure planning parameters and production capacity support projected demand within competitive lead times.

Assist Assembly Manager in preparing daily/weekly build plans to achieve monthly shipment goals.

Coordinate with Customer Service regarding delivery promises, new customer orders, past due orders and customer inquiries.

Evaluate production schedule to identify opportunities to shorten customer leadtimes.

Analyze demand patterns to identify trends that may require changes to capacity planning.

Monitor and process Engineering Change Notices that impact scheduled work orders.

Address demand/capacity/leadtime issues raised by Production, Sales, and/or Customer Service.

Maintain Item Master Data based on historical and forecasted data

Communicate and own product line(s) production schedule, changes, capacity issues, and supply/inventory issues with manufacturing and related departments.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree (Business, Supply Chain, or Operations Management preferred) or equivalent education and experience

Minimum 5 years of experience in related field (production planning, scheduling, materials management).

ERP/MRP expertise required

Proficient with MS office & excel in particular.

This position requires access to onsite locations managing government information, which contains Not Releasable to Foreign Nationals (NOFORN) data. Therefore, to meet NOFORN requirements, you will have to provide proof of US Citizenship and attest that you do not have dual citizenship.

Preferred Experience / Skills:

Good communicator and team member.

Machine Shop Experience (preferred)
