Production Operator City Narrows State/Province Virginia Overview:
Rotating shifts – 8- or 12-hour shifts8 hour – 7am -3pm, 3pm -11pm, 11pm - 7am - 7-day swing schedule rotating shifts 12 hour - 7am – 7pm & 7pm – 7am – 4 days on, 4 days off, rotating shifts (on call)* Must be able to work weekends & holidays Qualifications: High School Diploma or GEDPrevious experience in manufacturing or production environment strongly preferredPrevious training and/or experience on forklift operations a plusCandidates must be able to demonstrate basic knowledge and skills by completing the ACT WorkKeys assessment testing and attain required scoresAbility and willingness to work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays.Demonstrated ability to develop a thorough understanding of the processes and equipment operation and understand how safety can be impacted by any process changesExcellent oral and written communication skillsAbility and willingness to work overtime as neededExcellent observation skillsAdaptable and strong willingness to learnAble to work in a fast-paced, changing manufacturing environmentUnderstanding of ESHA and other regulatory issuesBasic mechanical skills and analytical skillsAbility to troubleshoot and resolve issuesAbility to work well in a team environment with limited supervisionExperience with safety programs in an industrial environment

The Production Operator is responsible for operating production equipment including troubleshooting and operator assisted maintenance. Operators will gain a thorough understanding of the processes and equipment operation and understand how safety can be impacted by any process change
Responsibilities:
Performs all functions safely within the production areasOperates production equipment including troubleshooting and operator-assisted maintenance activitiesLearns and rotates to all jobs including floor operation, control room and quality control operationsSupports maintenance through proper lock-out tag-out of equipment and issuing safety work permits when requiredStrictly follows all production specification sheets and Standard Operating ProceduresMaintains accurate records of all observations and resultsAccurately and thoroughly reports data through written and oral reports to leadershipEnters work notifications into SAP when malfunctioning equipment is identified and assists with initial trouble-shootingAccurately and timely reporting of all safety and environmental eventsMaintains and improves housekeeping standards in the work areasParticipates in design discussions, writing and reviewing SOPs, performing line walk-downs, labeling equipment and other duties as assigned.
