Just outside Malmo you find a leading paint company with a focus on innovation and sustainability. One of the Nordic region's largest sites where we develop, manufacture, market and sell paint for indoor and outdoor environments for consumers, customers and industry. Akzo Nobel Industrial Coatings, a leader in the sale and manufacture of paints and coatings for industrial surface treatment for wood products such as windows, doors, floors, and furniture. Some of the customers are IKEA, Montana, Inwido and Tarkett. The other company Akzo Nobel Decorative Coatings develops, manufactures, distributes, and sells paints, varnishes, putty and wood protection products to professional painters and consumers. What will you do?

As a key leader in our production organization, you will oversee operations across eight plants specializing in Industrial Coatings and Decorative Paint. Your role will be pivotal in driving performance, safety, and continuous improvement while fostering a culture aligned with our company values.

 

You will:

Manage Production across multiple sites, ensuring efficient and reliable output that meets customer expectations. Provide strategic direction to production teams, helping them understand how their work directly impacts customer satisfaction and business success. Champion our culture by implementing standard Centers of Excellence (CoE) processes and promoting operational excellence, accountability, and professionalism. Lead performance and delivery by planning, organizing, and controlling production to meet site objectives in safety, reliability, service, cost, quality, and sustainability. Identify and manage hazards related to safety, health, security, and the environment, ensuring proactive risk mitigation. Build a strong organization by developing talent, enhancing engagement, and preparing successors for key roles within the production unit. Set the example by living our values and collaborating across functions and sites to drive AkzoNobel’s strategy forward. Communicating strategy effectively, ensuring alignment between ISC strategy and plant operations, and facilitating feedback loops for continuous improvement.

 

This is a permanent full-time position, with a preferred start date as soon as possible. You’ll report directly to the Site Director and play a key role in shaping the strategy and success of our production operations.

 

Who are you?

You are a seasoned leader with a strong technical foundation and a passion for operational excellence. With a background in engineering or chemistry, you bring both strategic insight and hands-on experience to drive performance in a manufacturing environment.

 

We believe you’ll thrive in this role if you have:

A degree in Engineering (Chemical or Industrial) or a master’s in chemistry. 6–8 years of experience in the manufacturing industry, with solid knowledge of production and business processes. A strong background in Engineering, Logistics, Production, or HSE. At least 6-8 years of supervisory experience, leading multi-disciplinary teams and applying best practices in personnel management. Proven experience in batch-processing factory environments, ideally with knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles. Strong analytical and financial skills, and a track record of successfully managing change initiatives. Familiarity with SAP and warehousing operations, which is essential for this role. A leadership style that aligns with our values—focused on safety, quality, cost, delivery, planning, and people.
