About IPSD
Caterpillar’s Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) designs, tests and manufactures 0.5 to 18L engines that not only power Caterpillar machines, but also power over 5000 other applications including Marine, Petroleum, Industrial Applications, Electric Generators, and Locomotives. Job Summary:
We are seeking a driven Production Manager to lead and coordinate our machining operations for our C13D block/head line on 1st shift. In this role, you will oversee the activities of the production line, ensuring seamless workflow and optimal efficiency. You will prepare production schedules, resolve operational challenges, and uphold stringent safety and quality standards to meet organizational goals. As a key leader, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline processes, monitor performance metrics, and foster a culture of continuous improvement. Your expertise will ensure that our machining operations deliver precision-engineered products that meet and exceed expectations.
What you will do:
Create reports and records of production processes, tools issues performance, and inventory, sharing them with managers and providing suggestions to improve safety, productivity and quality
Prepare, maintain, and update documentation related to operating procedures and safety and quality standards; ensuring all processes and products meet desired safety and quality standards
Supervise and direct the daily activities of approximately 22 production line workers, assigning tasks, ensuring coordination between different teams, ensuring their safety and monitoring their performance
Train new hires, manage scheduling and work conflicts, monitor safety, and promote internal communication to create a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement
What you will have:
Quality Management: Working knowledge of quality management methods, tools, and techniques and ability to create and support an environment that meets the quality goals of the organization.
Utilizes quality indicators relevant to own unit or function
Adheres to organizational quality management processes and practices
Applies key aspects of continuous improvement processes and evaluates impact on quality
Uses quality evaluation tools and techniques such as walkthroughs and inspections
Works with quality assurance methods, tools and techniques
Analytical Thinking: Working knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
Approaches a situation or problem by defining the problem or issue and determining its significance
Makes a systematic comparison of two or more alternative solutions
Uses flow charts, Pareto charts, fish diagrams, etc. to disclose meaningful data patterns
Identifies the major forces, events and people impacting and impacted by the situation at hand
Uses logic and intuition to make inferences about the meaning of the data and arrive at conclusions
Planning and Organizing: Working knowledge of the process of planning and arranging tasks and resources; ability to plan and organize both time and resources to get things completed while structuring and maintaining work in a systematic and highly methodical way
Raises awareness of potential bottlenecks and disruptions to the schedule
Breaks tasks into manageable steps that can be incorporated into a personal work plan
Escalates concerns over competing or conflicting priorities
Monitors progress continuously and adjusts tactics for handling situations on a case-by-case basis
Creates action plans that ensure the accomplishment of responsibilities
Manufacturing Operations: Working knowledge of manufacturing operations; ability to perform day-to-day operations of a manufacturing plant or facility for products.
Identifies safety hazards and anomalies during the manufacturing process and reports to an immediate superior
Works with basic manufacturing related operation procedures like productivity enhancement, quality control, etc.
Participates in regular and ad-hoc operations review meetings
Assists in the process improvement projects of the plant or facility to deliver high quality products
Follows regulatory processes and procedures for the plant or facility
Manufacturing Safety: Extensive knowledge of manufacturing safety; ability to identify work-related hazards and perform necessary activities to meet regulatory requirements for the safety and protection of workers, environment and site.
Consults on the use of new tools and techniques for safety protection
Performs safety inspections to assure compliance with OSHA requirements
Designs and implements emergency response processes and procedures
Promotes workplace safety among supervisors and workers; communicates safety rules and regulations
Assesses and reports unusual or new safety hazards or violations; initiates corrective action
Ensures that all employees and contractors comply with relevant safety policies and regulations
Additional Information:
Schedule: Monday – Friday 6:00AM – 2:30PM CST
Overtime expectation up to 20-25%
This position is located in Schertz, TX

Summary Pay Range:
$79,800.00 - $119,760.00Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
