Job Description

The Production Manager will oversee manufacturing operations, ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of all departments. This role requires annual planning and day-to-day management, focusing on enhancing productivity, reducing costs, and improving quality. The Production Manager will collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement best practices and innovative solutions, develop processes to streamline operations, and lead the operations team towards continuous improvement and accountability.

ResponsibilitiesOversee manufacturing operations and ensure smooth and efficient functioning of all departments.Identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to enhance productivity, reduce costs, and improve quality.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement best practices and innovative solutions.Develop and refine processes to streamline operations and eliminate waste.Lead, mentor, and develop the operations team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress and drive operational excellence.Manage and execute improvement projects from conception through ensuring timely delivery and alignment with business goals.Ensure all operations comply with relevant regulations, quality standards, and company policies.Essential SkillsBachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management or equivalent experience.5+ years of manufacturing leadership experience in a manufacturing setting.Demonstrated implementation of LEAN principles and methodologies.Demonstrated team-based leadership and continuous improvement abilities.Proven ability to effectively communicate with all levels and functional areas.Working knowledge in the manufacturing and delivery of Capital Goods, highly preferred.Understanding and implementation of continuous improvement tools and techniques.Experience in union environment and handling union-related matters preferred.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience mentoring and coaching teams.Temperament to work within a union environment.Work Environment

The work environment consists of a plant split into two main areas. Half the plant is dedicated to producing parts such as panels and folded metal that form into cafeteria lines, which are welded and assembled into carts. The other half of the plant focuses on assembling these products, involving skilled tradesmen who follow custom assembly operations, welding operations, and various other machines. The Production Manager will supervise around 60 people, playing a major role in the operations. This role requires someone who can develop the next level of leadership and has a mentorship/coaching mentality. The union shop environment necessitates a temperament for handling union-related matters, ensuring workflow continuity without disciplinary responsibilities.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $60.00/hr.
