About the role Reporting to the Site Director, the Production Manager oversees all production operations to ensure safety, quality, output, and cost objectives are consistently met. This role is responsible for planning staffing needs, establishing efficient production sequences, and driving productivity across the plant. The Production Manager conducts process analyses and recommends improvements to enhance operational performance. Success in this role requires a strong understanding of industry practices, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Key responsibilities To perform this role successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty effectively. Core responsibilities include, but are not limited to: + Lead and support production teams by prioritizing tasks, delegating assignments, and scheduling staff to maximize efficiency and output. + Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, quality standards, and regulatory procedures, including GMPs, sanitation, and housekeeping. + Participate in cross-functional initiatives to foster a culture of operational excellence, continuous improvement, and innovation. + Analyze production processes and recommend improvements to enhance equipment performance, workforce utilization, product quality, and safety outcomes. + Serve as a technical resource for resolving production and quality-related issues. + Manage departmental tools, supplies, and equipment to ensure availability and proper use. + Oversee accurate and timely completion of all required production documentation. + Actively contribute to safety programs, including incident investigations, root cause analysis, and audits. + Monitor and control production-related costs to support plant performance goals. + Motivate, coach, and guide production staff while supporting their professional development. + Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by ensuring compliance with all safety and health regulations. + Communicate regularly with leadership regarding production challenges, progress, and opportunities. + Evaluate equipment and resource availability to minimize downtime and maintain production flow. + Balance productivity goals with cost-efficiency in manufacturing operations. + Set clear productivity targets for team members and monitor performance. + Develop and implement workflow procedures that improve efficiency without compromising safety or quality. + Ensure adequate staffing levels and effective shift coverage. Qualifications and skills Education: + Bachelors or Masters degree in Engineering, Business, Food Science, or a related field. Experience: + Minimum of 8 years of experience leading and developing high-performing teams. + At least 5 years of experience in the food, chemical, or pharmaceutical industry (preferred). Technical & Leadership Competencies: + Strong understanding of continuous improvement principles and methodologies. + In-depth knowledge of unit operations and production processes. + Familiarity with lean manufacturing practices and tools. + Proven ability to drive operational excellence and lead change initiatives. + Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills. Compensation Data The typical hiring range for this role is $91,404 to $154,009 annually and is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, location, etc. In addition to your pay, Kerry offers benefits such as a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and retirement contribution (all benefits and incentives are subject to eligibility requirements).
