Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Maintenance Technician to serve as a technical leader within our cosmetics manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for ensuring the optimal performance, reliability, and safety of all production and facility equipment. The ideal candidate will be an expert troubleshooter, a mentor to junior staff, and a key driver of our proactive maintenance strategy. You will be the primary escalation point for complex equipment challenges and will play a crucial role in continuous improvement projects.
Key Responsibilities
+ Lead and serve as the primary technical subject matter expert (SME) on key operational and engineering projects, driving deliverables and ensuring successful implementation.
+ Develop, implement, and champion a proactive maintenance strategy, utilizing lean manufacturing techniques (e.g., SMED, 5S, Poka-yoke) and reliability-centered principles to transition from preventive (PM) to predictive (PdM) maintenance.
+ Manage and optimize the spare parts inventory system, strategic reordering to minimize downtime and control costs.
+ Mentor, coach, and provide advanced technical training to junior technicians, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and skill development within the team.
+ Serve as the primary escalation point for complex and unresolved maintenance issues from all shifts, providing expert-level troubleshooting for advanced mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
+ Perform advanced diagnostic and root cause analysis (RCA) on complex equipment failures to implement permanent corrective actions and prevent recurrence.
+ Leverage the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS-Limble) to analyze equipment performance, track maintenance KPIs, identify failure trends, and generate reports for leadership.
+ Develop, validate, and own Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and maintenance documentation for all critical production and packaging equipment.
+ Lead the training of production and technical staff on new equipment, proper operating procedures, and autonomous maintenance practices.
+ Proactively identify and report on potential equipment obsolescence, system vulnerabilities, and opportunities for capital improvement projects to engineering and leadership.
+ Ensure clear and effective communication between shifts and with vendors, leading hand-off meetings and documenting critical information to drive continuity and action.
Key Qualifications
+ 6+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably within cosmetics, food, pharmaceutical, or other GMP-regulated industries.
+ Proven expertise in troubleshooting PLC-controlled equipment (e.g., B&R), VFDs, servos, and other automation controls.
+ Strong proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, pneumatic diagrams, and mechanical blueprints.
+ Excellent communication and leadership skills, with a proven ability to mentor junior staff and collaborate effectively with engineering and operations teams.
+ Proficiency with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for work order management, asset tracking, and data analysis.
+ Technical degree or equivalent journeyman/apprenticeship certification is highly preferred.
+ Physically capable to lift 50 lbs.
+ Flexible with availability to accommodate business needs, including potential on-call support for critical failures.

In California, the anticipated base salary range for this role is $31.00 - $36.00/hour annually. Actual compensation will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, knowledge, and skills. This role will be an in-office position based out of our Commerce, CA office and the expectation is that this person will be in the office for all scheduled shifts.
