Production & Engineering Manager

Job Description:

The Production & Engineer Manager will be operating under general direction from the Director of Operations. Oversee 30-40 production employees on a variety of production lines. The Production & Engineer Manager will manage various facets of production activities including production coordination. He / She will be responsible for complex assignments within a chemical manufacturing environment. This role involves working closely with other production members to learn the current state of operations and collaborate on future-state projects by managing small to medium-sized projects or significant activities within larger, sophisticated initiatives. The Production & Engineer Manager will also research different methodologies by conducting studies, running tests, and analyzing results to drive design changes and recommend process and/or product improvements. This position requires expertise in chemical production processes, equipment optimization, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Process Optimization: Analyze and improve chemical manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency, yield, and cost-effectiveness.Oversee the following activities to ensure adherence:Direct and Coordinate Production Activities: Ensuring adherence to schedules and quality standards with a commitment to excellence. Analyze performance metrics of the production staff and implement corrective actions as needed to achieve operational targets.Optimize Manufacturing Processes: To enhance efficiency and reduce costs while maintaining quality and putting focus on the most critical aspects.Production Management Collaboration: Work with other production team members to oversee efficiency of daily production operations, ensuring proper handling of raw materials, equipment utilization, and batch consistency.Lead and Mentor Production Staff: Working directly and daily with floor leads in production processes and best practices. Offer guidance, advice, and feedback.Troubleshooting & Problem-Solving: Diagnose and resolve chemical production issues, including process deviations, equipment failures, and material inconsistencies.Quality Control & Regulatory Compliance: Work with quality analyst to implement quality assurance protocols and ensure adherence to industry regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA, FDA).Safety & Hazard Management: Monitor safety procedures and hazardous material handling to maintain compliance with environmental and workplace safety standards.Cross-functional Collaboration: Act as a consultant to other functional areas, working alongside chemists, production staff, and management to achieve business objectives.Chemical Equipment Management: Supervise equipment maintenance, calibration, and optimization to ensure operational reliability in chemical processes.Data Analysis & Cost Reduction: Track production metrics, analyze chemical process data, and implement cost-effective measures for enhanced profitability.Process Scaling & Innovation: Develop improvements for process scaling, ensuring seamless transition from lab-scale to full-scale manufacturing.Regulatory Documentation & Reporting: Maintain compliance records, report process deviations, and ensure documentation aligns with industry standards.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Manufacturing / Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related field.Minimum of 5 years of experience manufacturing environmentKnowledge of chemical reaction processes, batch production, and continuous flow systems.Strong problem-solving skills with hands-on troubleshootingKnowledge of hazardous material handling, workplace safety, and environmental regulations.Excellent communication and leadership skills to guide teams and collaborate across departments.Maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including sales, marketing, accounting, suppliers, and customers to support business objectives.
