The opportunity 

Our Production Engineering teams in Dunedin and Auckland act as the interface between Product Development (PD) and Manufacturing to ensure that the products we design are optimally designed for both manufacturing, assembly and service, and put the customer at the centre of everything we do. 

We now have an opportunity for a Production Engineer to join our Auckland team made up of experts in sheetmetal, plastics, tooling and assembly.  This team works mainly on our luxury premium Refrigeration products that are manufactured in Thailand, but there is opportunity to support our Dishwashing and Cooking product lines from time to time.  You will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of excellent and timely technical knowledge that contributes to the efficient manufacturing of products that are of the highest level of quality, and you’ll have the opportunity to lead projects.  

The person 

As a Production Engineer, you will demonstrate relevant experience in manufacturing processes and understand the critical link between the design process and the factory. You will work collaboratively to identify opportunities to strip out costs, reuse knowledge, and find efficiencies, all while ensuring optimal manufacturability to the highest standard.

Building effective relationships with Product Development Engineers, Chief Engineers, Functional Leads, and other stakeholders across various locations will be essential. You will need to influence decisions from early to end stages of the production process. Your ability to drive and influence the delivery of world-class manufacturing operations that efficiently and consistently deliver todays and future products will be crucial.

Our ideal candidate has demonstrable experience and understanding of the design/manufacturing environment and is looking to grow their leadership capability by representing design in manufacturing. With our own internal inclusive global Leadership Programme to support your development, you will play an integral part in driving and influencing manufacturing operations.

Experience in Design for Excellence, including Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA), is essential. Some experience in jig design, plastics, or sheet metal - or a combination of these - would be beneficial. Additionally, the ability to travel overseas from time to time is required.
