Job Description

JOB TITLE:                            COOKER OPERATOR                                                                                                   CLASSIFICATION:             CLASS E WAGE:                               $24.72 – $25.44 DEPARTMENT:                  PROCESS CHEESE – Legacy WORK HOURS:                 3rd Shift (2230-0630), but may vary

WORK DAYS:                     Mon-Fri, but may vary  

Primary Purpose:

Responsible for operating, monitoring, & maintaining continuous cookers.

Job Responsibilities:

Monitor production schedule to determine correct product to cook & when to do Sanitation. Monitor & Control cooker operation, adjusting ingredient set points as required to producing a quality product. Obtain and analyze cooker samples, using the Foodscan, pH meter, Salt Titrator, or current test method. Notify appropriate resources to assist correcting cooker or any process back to target after analysis of samples. Complete required prestart-up checks. Assist with capturing calibration samples for testing equipment. Assist with R&D Trials as needed. Responsible for scraping, cleaning, and inspecting for cleanliness and for damage before using cooker & cooker equipment. Perform sanitation duties on Cooker equipment. This includes running CIP unit, operating COP tubs and completing & documenting all Period Cleaning items for Continuous Cooker as the need arises. Assist with Blender Operation, Monitoring, Testing, & Sanitation. Perform required Screen changes. Communicate closely with Filling, Blending, Grinding and cookers across all shifts to coordinate cooker changes. Maintain Kraft quality standards by checking quality of seals, code dates, labels, packaging, weights, odor, color, temperature of product, etc. Maintain machine operating condition through proper cleaning and lubrication to improve line optimization. This includes variety of maintenance-type functions (i.e., change-over, set-up, minor maintenance and adjustments, lubrication, production programming, etc.). Maintain housekeeping and Kraft quality standards in the work area. Perform recordkeeping as the need arises on manual, computer and other systems. Coordinate the job duties or changes of duty during shift operations. Train new or inexperienced associates. Relieve other personnel as needed. Maintain proper line speeds. Able to learn/demonstrate proficiency in MES applications. Report and correct unsafe acts or conditions. Operate material handling equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Perform other duties as advised by leadership team. Responsible for making accurate decisions and informing the proper personnel when there are issues. Maintain progress Boards & Rail items. Accountable for the Safety, Health and Environmental systems and operational standards to ensure compliance as it is outlined in our policies/procedures and processes. Understand and apply KHMS (Kraft Heinz Management System) practices such as 5S, centerline management, shift hand-offs, operational standard ownership/support, problem solving, etc.

Minimum Requirements:

Knowledge: Basic math, reading, and communication. Working Environment: Primarily indoors with heating and cooling regulated in a general production environment.

Qualifications:

Able to acquire a fork truck license.

Physical Requirements:

Performs bending, squatting, kneeling, sorting, and reaching to both ground level and overhead. Lifts, carries, pushes, routinely pulls and moves up to 100 pounds. Holds and grips objects; must possess manual dexterity vital to operate equipment and disassemble and reassemble equipment.
