Production Associate (2pm-10:30pm)

Your role at Clorox:

Clorox is seeking a Production Associate which will join a part of our team of multiskilled operators in the Houston, TX facility. The Production Associate will operate different packaging machine areas to make a variety of bleach-based cleaning products as efficiently as possible with safety and quality as the foundation to every unit produced. Responsibilities include machine changeovers, inventory and quality control along with housekeeping duties. Production Associates also support the Maintenance team by performing light maintenance skills.

Hourly rate: $24.16 with opportunities to advance through a skill-based pay system. In a skill-based pay system, associates advance by learning and using the job-related skills and knowledge acquired as they progress through each skill level.

Candidate must satisfactorily complete the employment application with attached resume, as well as complete a pre-employment physical, drug screen, and background check.

In this role, you will:

Assure compliance with all Safety, Environmental, and Quality rules and procedures:
•    May serve as a member of the safety pillar.
•    Will lock out and clip out packaging machines as appropriate.
•    Be able to safely lift a 40lb bleach case.
•    If serving in the Cap Zone or Pack Zone must understand and perform all quality inspection and testing requirements.
•    Follow a safety map.
•    Know and adhere to all safety rules.
•    Must be able to safely negotiate stairs, ladders, and crossovers.
•   Adhere to all product specifications relative to the operator position.
•    Wet chemistry test of bleach to ensure it is in specs.
•     Perform monthly safety observations of employees, temporaries, and contractor.

Changeover packaging machines:
•    Be able to quickly remove and install parts, turn wrenches, and follow changeover procedures in an orderly fashion.
•    Perform pre-external activities and post external activities in relation to changeover.
•    Operate packaging machines.
•    Read and understand machine basic operating manuals.
•    Understand the machine sequence of operations.
•   Perform basic equipment/machine troubleshooting.
•    Capable of operating fork truck daily ( in many manners/ways).

Maintain equipment: 
•    Perform all Clean Inspect and Lubrication standard work.
•    Clean machines which include but is not limited to, wiping dust, scraping, polishing, rinsing, etc.
•   Perform weekly and monthly lubrication.
•    Maintain computer system access and write work orders.
•   Inspect gauges, normal position marks (centerlines), etc.

Teamwork:
•    Work toward team goals and live the commitment to your team.
•    Be able to give peer feedback and receive feedback in a mature way with a growth mindset.
•    Recognize others with peer-to-peer recognition system.
•    Assist in training of lesser skilled teammates, or teammates needing help
•    Support continuous Improvement of the overall facility.
•    Develop monthly continuous improvement ideas and actions and document. 
Housekeeping:
•    Ensure trash is emptied at the end shift including recyclables being properly separated and stored.
•    Keep your work area assignment clean and organized – WPO.
•    Clean under and around your machine zone in the flow of the daily work.
•    Assist in rework of product.

Inventory Control:
•    Perform periodic cycle counts as defined by the team.
•    Ensure proper stock rotation, FIFO Integrity.

What we look for:

Education Level
•    High School Diploma required.
•    Additional training or education beyond high school for example, Military training, vocational training, college, or trade school.

•    Preferred (2 - 4 years) of work experience in a manufacturing environment.
•    Basic Computer Skills, Microsoft Office, SAP knowledge.
•    Ability to effectively manage, prioritize, and execute multiple tasks in an autonomous way.
