Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist the Production Supervisor in planning, scheduling, and assigning daily job tasks to fabrication employees. Ensure that tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with specifications and quality standards. Provide hands-on training and guidance to shop personnel for specific fabrication tasks as needed. Inspect and verify layouts, fit-ups, and other fabrication work to ensure accuracy and adherence to job requirements. Coordinate with the Receiving Department to ensure the materials are delivered to the correct locations to the shop for scheduled jobs. Monitor and help verify employee work hours and job time tracking to ensure accurate labor reporting. Act as liaison between production staff and management to maintain workflow and resolve any job-related issues. Maintain a clean and organized shop floor in compliance with company safety and housekeeping standards. Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production processes and shop efficiency.Qualifications:
3-5 years of supervisory or leadership experience in a fabrication or industrial manufacturing environment, preferably involving heavy fabrication or refinery equipment (tube sheets, heat exchangers, etc.) Strong leadership skills with a focus on coaching, training, and supporting production staff to ensure skill development and task accuracy. Strong knowledge of fabrication processes, including layout, welding, fit-up, and material handling; familiarity with welding processes such as TIG, MIG or Stick. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and job specifications. Ability to read and write the English language. Excellent organizational skills and communication skills. Basic computer skills for timekeeping, job tracking, or production software; familiarity with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word). Knowledge of safety procedures and compliance in a shop setting.Preferred Qualifications:
Forklift certification or ability to become certified. Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus.Physical Requirements:
Ability to work in a physically demanding environment (walking, standing, lifting, bending, etc. for extended periods in a shop environment) Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Hands-on experience with hand and power tools used in fabrication, such as grinders, measuring instruments, etc.Work Environment:
Ability to work in a fabrication shop that may be hot, noisy, dusty, dirty, or cold. Potential exposure to chemicals and pinching hazards. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn as required.
