The Production Agronomist serves as a primary field contact for our hybrid corn seed production and is responsible for training and education of seed field employees and growers in agronomy, seedsmanship and safety.

What You’ll Do:

Grower/Contractor management and supportSupervise field operations (acreage allocation, seed delivery, planting, scouting, roguing, and harvest)Remain current with latest production technology and government programs to support seed growers.Develop and implement programs regarding agronomic issues in production fields to drive increased yields and quality.  Complete administrative duties: signing of grower contract, collection and inputting data, preparation of field reports, and providing proposals for field improvement initiatives.Perform and coordinate seed logistics activities.Satisfy internal production standards.Support and implement Digital Agronomy programs.Promotes a positive work attitude and cultivates harmonious relations.Promotes a safe working environment and manage assigned Safety Programs.

Qualifications - External

Education:

Bachelor's degree in agronomy, agriculture science, or a related field

What Skills You Need:

3-5 years’ experience working with seed growers and seed plant operations or equivalent education and experience required.Knowledge of production agriculture, field equipment, and current precision agriculture technology in Western CanadaSupervisory and team leadership skillsAbility to work effectively in a team environment,Strong communication, organizational, and time management skillsExcellent computer skills with the ability to use MS OfficeWillingness to work in a variety of conditions (field, plant, warehouse- hot, cold, dust etc.)Ability to lift up to 60 lbs.Possess a valid drivers license.Possess or be willing to obtain a Certified Crop Advisor designation.Possess or be willing to obtain a drone Pilot Certificate for basic operations through Transport Canada
