Description
Under general supervision, performs various activities to install customer-specified kits that would normally be installed by the dealer. This position requires the ability to disassemble components from the machine and reassemble the kit on the machine as needed. The use of special tools and the use of lifting devices to move heavy components of weights of more than 35 lbs. is required for this position. This position is also responsible for working with design engineers on complex teardown and assembly of kit components on the machines. May coordinate CSD compliance through coordination of offline WIP activity and other duties as assigned.
Job duties may include the following:
Operation of BCP built products
In depth knowledge of hydraulics including testing and calibrations
Ability to read electrical schematics and follow the electrical circuits on machines
Perform rework on quality defects that cannot be immediately addressed on the assembly line
Support Design Engineers by gathering data for research and evaluations, by conducting technically complex teardowns and assembly of BCP components/equipment.
Uses various tools provided in the work area to perform assembly duties and may include the use of lifting devices to move heavy components of weights of more than 35 lbs.
Follows documented procedures standard work, routings, and blueprints to perform safe and defect free assembly and/or adjustment of components and prime product.
May conduct assembly on new product introductions according to engineering schematics
Follows and utilizes CPS principles of 5S, Continuous Improvement Idea reporting, Waste Elimination, and Standard Work
Define, communicate and verify daily rework activities
Relies on independent decision-making and problem solving to complete job tasks
Active participation in scheduling and confirming rework activities
Must meet deadlines
Ability to multitask and prioritize work
Monitor CAT computer system to conduct hydraulic, electrical, mechanical or other component tests on BCP machines
Catalogues defects and resolution in computer-based system
Conduct additional diagnostics and analysis to identify defects and quality issues that are more complex
Catalogues failures and communicates to relevant personnel as appropriate
Scheduling shipment of prime product ensuring CSD compliance
Working knowledge of Caterpillar systems, ATRS, PSPS, STAR
Cross-function communication to complete tasks
Effective teamwork
Provide summaries to leadership
Basic Qualifications
Must have at least 1 year of heavy equipment machine assembly experience
Must have blueprint reading experience
Top Candidates will also have
Must have intermediate proficiency in assembly of Small Wheel Loaders
Welding experience
MIG welding experience
Complex attachment area (CAA) experience
Test and adjust experience
Drill press experience
CAT systems experience (VMC software and SISWEB)
Ability to troubleshoot electrical/mechanical and hydraulic systems in Small Wheel Loaders
Excellent problem-solving skills
Advanced mechanical aptitude
Ability to follow standard work
Ability to multitask and prioritize work
Effective communication skills
Excellent attendance record
Excellent customer service focus and be able to handle stress and work independently
Candidate must be self-motivated, have initiate, good analytical and organizational skills
Additional Information
Shift: 1st
Hours: 6am - 4:30pm, Occasional overtime as business needs require on Fridays

Summary Pay Range:
$24.00 - $30.30Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
