This position uses design thinking and collaborates with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities, develop strategies, and drive the creation of products and services that support our mission of providing safe, efficient, and reliable electric power and fiber broadband. As the first level in the Product Strategist job family, this role manages the product roadmap and backlog, prioritizes tasks, and ensures operational efficiency across the product lifecycle. The Product Strategist exercises independent judgment, works under limited supervision, and makes decisions with organization-wide impact on product initiatives. **Job Responsibilities** **_Essential Functions:_** _Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include any of the following representative duties, knowledge, and skills. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:_ + Manages the product roadmap and backlog: Continuously monitor and update tasks to ensure they reflect the current priorities and status. Effectively communicate the roadmap across stakeholders, providing transparency on direction of product development efforts. + Product lifecycle: Maintains operational efficiency throughout the product lifecycle by implementing best practices and continuous improvement efforts. Ensuring all stages of the product lifecycle are executed smoothly. + Product and Service Ideation: Lead the ideation process for new utility products and services, considering customer demands, market trends, and emerging technologies. + Market Research: Conduct thorough market research and analysis to identify emerging trends, customer needs, and opportunities for innovation in the utility sector. + Product Strategic Planning: Develop and implement product and service development roadmap aligned with the company's long-term goals and vision. + New Product Development: Lead cross-functional teams in the ideation, design, and launch of new utility products and services, ensuring they align with customer expectations and regulatory requirements. + Existing Product Enhancement: Continuously evaluate and enhance existing utility offerings to improve efficiency, sustainability, and customer satisfaction. + Financial Analysis: Collaborate with finance and power planning teams to develop business cases and financial models for new product and service initiatives, including cost-benefit analyses. + Customer Feedback Integration: In collaboration with Customer Strategists, solicit and incorporate customer feedback throughout the development process to ensure solutions meet customer expectations. + Prototyping and Testing: Oversee the prototyping, testing, and refinement of new products and services, ensuring their feasibility and alignment with customer expectations. + Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with internal teams, external partners, and regulatory bodies to gain support and alignment for product and service development initiatives. + Competitive Analysis: Monitor and analyze competitors' offerings and market positioning to inform our own product and service strategies. + Performance Metrics: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success and impact of new offerings post-launch. + Marketing and Promotion: Collaborate with the External Affairs & Communications team to develop a marketing campaign that adheres to Grant PUD’s branding efforts and achieves established performance metrics. + In this position, if needed to operate a GPUD vehicle for business purposes, please refer to the Vehicle/Asset Usage Policy, IS-TA-POL-001. + Demonstrated commitment to Grant PUD’s mission, vision, values, strategic plan and Vision 2021. The incumbent should be familiar with these organizational priorities and behave in a way that aligns with these expectations. + Understand and adhere to compliance requirements for this position that may include laws, regulations, security guidelines, Grant PUD policies & procedures. + Actively support and participate in all aspects of our safety program, including but not limited to: + Following all safety policies and procedures; + Alerting supervisors and coworkers of unsafe or hazardous working conditions; + Reporting any safety incidents or close calls within 24 hours to your supervisor; and + Accepting feedback from supervisors and coworkers regarding your own safety performance. **Required Qualifications** (Education, Experience, Licenses & Certifications): + Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field OR two additional years of experience in lieu of degree. + 2 (two) years' experience in business, marketing or engineering fields. + Experience in new products, programs or new service development. **Preferred Qualifications** (Education, Experience, Licenses & Certifications): + Experience in the utility industry + One year’s experience in new products, program or new service development or developing a new service portfolio + Master’s degree in business, Engineering, or a related field + Proven experience in product and/or service development, ideally within the utility industry. + Certified Innovation Leader (CIL) Certification OR New Product Development Professional (NPDP) Certification OR PDMA New Product Development (NPD) Certification **Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities** + Proven ability to collaborate with other departments and gain support for cross-departmental initiatives. + Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. + Excellent project management and cross-functional team leadership abilities. + Strong communication and presentation skills. + Knowledge of utility regulations and industry trends. **Physical Requirements** + Position may be eligible for hybrid work arrangement: ☒Yes ☐No + Majority of work is performed in a standard office setting. + Typical shift of employees in this position: ☒8 hours ☐9 hours ☐10 hours ☐12 hours _*For a full list of requirements, the applicant/incumbent should refer to the Physical Capacity Evaluation (PCE)._ _The statements contained herein reflect general details as necessary to describe the principal functions for this job, the level of knowledge and skill typically required, and the scope of responsibility, but should not be considered an all-inclusive listing of work requirements.
