**Who we are** By joining our project, you will be working on an initiative of the European Commission focused on creating a more efficient, modern and secure customs environment within the European Union. Being part of this initiative set on a 5 years’ timeline, you will have the opportunity to work on topics such as digitalization of customs processes, streamlining customs procedures to facilitate trade and reduce costs, harmonization of customs rules across all EU member states and combating fraud. This purposeful project will not only give you the opportunity to have an impact on one of the key topics within the European Union, it will also offer you various professional opportunities, let you experience a collaborative environment, using cutting-edge technologies and experiencing diversity in your everyday professional life. **What you'll be doing** + Assessing and evaluating commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) software and IT products to determine their suitability for the European Commission’s operational and strategic needs + Collaborating with software vendors to understand product features, licensing models, and support structures + Ensuring seamless integration of COTS solutions into the European Commission’s existing IT infrastructure, maintaining performance and interoperability + Guiding the customization of COTS products to align with business processes while ensuring long-term maintainability and system stability + Managing the full lifecycle of IT products, from selection and deployment to upgrades, maintenance, and decommissioning + Creating and delivering user training programs and maintaining comprehensive documentation to support effective product usage + Analyzing the total cost of ownership (TCO) for IT products, including implementation, maintenance, and support (excluding licensing cost analysis, which is handled internally) + Working closely with business users, IT teams, and leadership within the European Commission to ensure that COTS solutions align with organizational goals and deliver measurable value + Translating technical concepts into accessible language for non-technical stakeholders and fostering collaboration across departments + Supporting the selection, implementation, and optimization of commercial software to meet the specific needs of the European Commission **What you'll bring along** + Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field. + Minimum 5-10 years of experience ideally within a public sector or large-scale IT environment + Strong knowledge of IT products and COTS solutions relevant to the European Commission’s ecosystem + Demonstrated experience integrating COTS products into complex IT infrastructures + Proven ability to manage product customization while maintaining system integrity and long-term sustainability + Solid experience leading IT product implementation and optimization projects + Strong communication skills with the ability to bridge technical and non-technical audiences + Excellent problem-solving capabilities to address integration, customization, and operational challenges + Adaptability to evolving technologies and shifting business priorities, ensuring continued alignment with strategic objectives + Experience in developing user-friendly training materials and technical documentation + Relevant certifications in COTS products and IT management are highly desirable + Excellent command of both spoken and written English. **What’s in it for you** ✔ New beginnings can be a challenge.
