JOB PROFILE SUMMARY
Supports the Product Manager in optimizing the offering portfolio and return on investment. Ensures that ABB has a full understanding of market requirements in a specific area and can transform those requirements into offering specifications and development activities. Performs various offering lifecycle activities supporting the development, launch, maintenance, pricing, and profitability.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Understands and follows global or assigned area standards, market and customer requirements, and their impact on the offering portfolio.
Conducts valuation of market size and trends and competitor analyses including identification of offering gaps and evaluates ABB’s position.
Follows major warranty cases and quality cost drivers for the assigned offering and ensures quick resolution.
Collects and analyses standards, market requirements, and customer needs and values as inputs for developing a product roadmap.
Supports the global Product Manager in creating business case for development projects or offering transfers.
Prepares offering market communication materials, including support for new offering launches.
Clarifies offering positioning within the portfolio, with defined values per offering line to address different segment needs.
Keeps the product group, Sales team, and channels informed on topics related to the offering, such as new offering availability, market, competition, quality, configuration, trends, and limitations.
Provides sales support, participates in customer meetings, and attends trade shows on request.
Supports marketing programs.
Ensures appropriate product training materials are available to train internal (Sales/Engineering/Service JFGs) and external customers.
Drives technical solutions across the offering line.
Maintains and follows annual cycle of activities to govern product management for the assigned offering.
Supports the offering development process right from project specification till offering launch.
Assists in resolving the issues on customer offering and accompanies internal partners to customer sites when needed.
Participates in determining sales targets for the Sales team.
Prepares price lists for review and approval.
Prepares various analyzes on market, product, and competitors.
Contributes to the preparation of marketing tools to support the business and the Sales organizations.
Proposes new offering development or enhancements to offer suitable and unique solutions to meet the customer needs.
Contributes to the definition of new offering technical characteristics by providing specific expertise.
Delivers training on new offering(s) to internal teams and customers.
Job Requirements:
Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred, Specialization in Signaling Technology is a plus
Strong skills in market intelligence, customer insights, and competitor analysis.
Ability to analyze market trends, identify gaps, and support product roadmaps.
Experience supporting the full product lifecycle — from development and launch to maintenance and pricing.
Familiarity with new product development and product positioning strategies
Effective collaboration with cross-functional teams (Sales, R&D, Engineering, Supply Chain).
Ability to deliver product training and support marketing communications.
Understanding of solution/application engineering and agile methodologies.
Knowledge in portfolio management, pricing excellence, and go-to-market strategy is a plus.
Experience in sales enablement, attending customer meetings, trade shows, and handling product-related customer issues.
