Product Owner - Operations Software

We’re hiring a Product Owner to lead the development of internal software applications that support manufacturing and warehouse operations. This role is responsible for defining product strategy, managing backlogs, and delivering tools that improve execution, visibility, and scalability across core operational systems.


You will be accountable for the full product lifecycle management of internal platforms, from roadmap definition to production release, working with cross-functional teams across Engineering, Manufacturing, and Warehouse Operations.

The Product Owner - Operations Software is a fully onsite role in Columbus, Ohio. Remote work is not available.

Responsibilities

Own and execute the full product lifecycle for internal operations software

Define the product vision and roadmap for manufacturing and warehouse applications

Prioritize features and manage the product backlog using Agile and product management best practices
 

Translate operational needs into actionable technical requirements

Partner with stakeholders to gather functional and business requirements

Develop user stories, use cases, and acceptance criteria aligned with real operational workflows

Lead cross-functional product development using Agile methodologies

Facilitate sprint planning, backlog grooming, and release planning

Support engineering throughout the software development life cycle (SDLC) and coordinate releases

Identify, measure, and improve key operational metrics through software solutions

Collaborate with stakeholders to define success metrics tied to productivity, labor efficiency, and scheduling

Deliver tools that impact KPIs such as:

Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)

Labor Utilization Rate

Planned vs. Actual Output

Inventory Accuracy

Material Handling Pick Accuracy / Throughput

Use performance data to validate outcomes and guide future iterations
 

Evaluate and guide technology decisions for operations software

Identify opportunities to improve workflow, visibility, and data flow

Recommend tools and platforms that align with long-term operational goals

Support interoperability between ERP, WMS, MES, and other systems
 

Enable adoption and long-term usability

Develop process documentation, training materials, and change support

Gather user feedback and iterate on features to improve usability and performance

Leverage AI toolsets to improve efficiency in product development workflows

Apply generative AI and automation platforms to accelerate requirement definition, documentation, and testing artifact creation

Use AI-driven insights to support solution design, decision-making, and communication

Continuously explore emerging AI technologies relevant to internal operations and product ownership

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical or operations-focused field, such as:

Computer Science, Software Engineering

Industrial / Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering

3+ years experience as a Product Owner or Product Manager for internal software applications

Strong understanding of Agile software development practices and product lifecycle management

Experience translating operational needs into clear, implementable technical requirements

Effective communication and decision-making skills across both technical and business teams

Familiarity with enterprise platforms such as ERP, WMS, MES, or similar internal systems

Preferred Qualifications

1-3+ years of experience in manufacturing, warehousing, or industrial operations

Product ownership or Agile certifications, including:

Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO)

Professional Scrum Product Owner (PSPO)
SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager (POPM)

Working knowledge of WMS, ERP, MES, or other operations technologies

Exposure to Industry 4.0 tools or IIoT integrations

Completion of training in Agile product development, internal tool design, or process improvement methodologies
