Product Owner III
The expected salary range for this position is $103,800.00 - $121,955.60. Employees in specific high cost of labor locations in the United States (such as San Francisco, CA and Seattle, WA) may qualify for a geographic differential. As a strategic leader within the Agile development team, the Product Owner plays a pivotal role in shaping and delivering innovative solutions that drive team performance and impact. This role bridges the gap between business vision and technical execution, ensuring that products align with organizational goals and donor engagement strategies. Working closely with stakeholders, the Product Owner translates high-level features into actionable user stories, prioritizing them to maximize value delivery. They define and communicate clear acceptance criteria, ensuring each story aligns with the broader product vision and supports key marketing and fundraising objectives. At this career level, the Product Owner operates with a high degree of autonomy, often leading complex or global initiatives. They may also mentor junior team members, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. This role is ideal for a results-driven professional with a passion for transformation, user-centric design, and data-informed decision-making in the nonprofit or fundraising space.

What will you do?

Maintains a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ, maintains a courteous, Christ-like attitude in dealing with people within and outside of Compassion, and faithfully upholds Compassion’s ministry in prayer.

Acts as an advocate to raise the awareness of the needs of children. Understands Christ’s mandate to protect children. Commits to and prioritizes child protection considerations in all decision-making, tasks and activities across the ministry. Abides by all behavioral expectations in Compassion’s Statement of Commitment to Child Protection and Code of Conduct. Reports any concerns of abuse, neglect or exploitation of children through Compassion’s internal reporting process and appropriately supports responses to incidents if they occur.

Uphold and engage in Compassion’s core Cultural Behaviors.

In coordination with product management, ensures that the backlog is prioritized and well understood going into the program increment planning event creating collaterals as appropriate to communicate the vision to the team and other stakeholders. Breaks down features provided by the product manager into user stories.

Acts as the content authority for all user stories and associated acceptance criteria.

Acts as the recognized process expert for a product, managing all aspects of the end to end process, using "good of the whole thinking."

Recognizes opportunities for improvement and implements solutions (People, Process and Technology) by understanding the value of telemetry and performance metrics.

Participates in sprint planning setting priority and providing clarity for user stories that will be completed in the sprint (including enabler stories). Attends agile development team participating in daily stand-ups, system demos, sprint planning, program increment planning and other meetings as required to advance the program vision.

Refines team backlog, ensuring that there is adequate detail (just in time elaboration) to prioritize and sequence work.

Accepts stories as done ensuring that the product meets quality standards. Actively participates in team demos and retrospectives.

Collaborates with other product owners to address cross team dependencies and impacts.

Coordinates between Agile Team, Release Advisor and Product Manager to execute Change management activities for new feature/product releases: End user communications, training plans, and deployment schedules.

May coach and provide expertise to other professionals and support staff in the product ownership discipline.
