Manager of Product Management

About the position

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure’s (OCI) Developer and Operations Platform is seeking a Manager of Product Management to lead the development of next-generation developer and operator tooling and services. This role involves overseeing a team of Product Managers who will define product strategy, gather, and analyze information to establish product specifications, and review design specifications. The successful candidate will initiate and foster relationships with various groups, ensuring that product documentation and collateral are reviewed thoroughly. The primary goal is to ensure successful product releases that align with corporate priorities. 

This position requires the Manager to collaborate extensively with engineering, architects, program management, marketing, and sales teams to achieve these objectives. The Manager will also engage with senior management and executives across functional areas to ensure that unit objectives are met, influencing thinking, and gaining acceptance in sensitive situations. The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in cloud infrastructure, DevOps and operations. The Manager will play a crucial role in defining and driving entire products and major product areas. This individual will advocate for customers, utilizing strong analytical capabilities and persuasive writing skills to achieve results in a fast-paced, environment. 

The candidate should have demonstrated experience in developing product strategy, along with a detailed understanding of product development and management – either as an individual contributor or as a manager of product management teams.

Responsibilities

Lead a team of Product Managers to define product strategy and requirements. Gather and analyze information to define product specifications. Review design specifications and product documentation. Initiate and foster relationships with other groups to ensure successful product releases. Collaborate with Service Engineering, Project Management, Consulting, and Sales teams. Engage with senior management and executives to meet unit objectives and influence decision-making.

Requirements

BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. Demonstrated leadership and people management skills. Strong communication skills and analytical abilities. Detailed understanding of product development and product management. Proven experience in product leadership roles, focusing on hyper-scale cloud data platforms. Ability to translate customer needs into innovative product solutions. Excellent teamwork skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams. Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, startup-like environment.
