The role:
The Product Manager reports to the Director, Product & Payments Innovation and is ideal for someone passionate about building innovative products. This role leads new product development for one of Meridian’s business lines: Retail, Business, Wealth, or Payments Innovation. You bridge technical and business domains to deliver solutions that impress Members and drive growth. You’ll collaborate with stakeholders to align on goals, shape product roadmaps, define vision, and build solutions with third parties, business partners, and digital/technology teams. You’ll own the full product lifecycle—from research and business casing to planning and launch.
Key Responsibilities
Product/Payment Investigation & Research, Identification and Delivery
Assist in managing our product roadmap – work closely with strategic partners to understand their objectives, define scope for new products and solutions, including management of a prioritized backlog. Identify market trends, customer needs, and emerging technologies and researching ways to drive innovation and enter new markets. Gather and analyze data and business intelligence from multiple inputs (products, market, competitors, consumers, prospects, industry analysts, etc.) as well as internal sources such as historical sales data, Member verbatims and Member concerns to help inform product roadmaps and strategy. Work with Finance to develop financial impact analyses and profitability assumptions to assist in determining the viability of the proposed solutions. Own the end-to-end product lifecycle from conception to launch, ensuring team delivery commitments are successfully met at each stage along the way. Work with our lines of business, digital and technology teams and various stakeholders across risk, operations, marketing, finance, enterprise data and legal to ensure products are built to spec and within regulatory requirements. Write product requirements and develop business cases for new products or payment solutions. Build relationships and collaborate with cross-functional teams and third-party vendors to deliver high-quality products/services to Members. Provide advice and regular feedback on product & payment opportunities that have been identified with regular feedback on progress. Responsible for presenting product opportunities and recommended solutions in an engaging, concise and intelligent fashion to a broad spectrum of stakeholders. Gather and analyze feedback in support of continuous improvement to our Member ExperienceLeadership Practices
Coordinate cross-functional team members and organize cross-functional team activities to understand and fulfill required responsibilities (i.e. plan and lead cross-functional program meetings, develop detailed timelines to ensure program tactics are completed on time). Initiate conversations with internal partners to ensure the impacts of any changes are well understood and supported. Solicit feedback, opinions, and best advice from various stakeholders across the organization to unearth the most effective path to execution. Become a valuable product innovation centre of excellence resource to the organization and for the lines of business and champion innovation for the digital transformation team.Risk Management
Ensure new opportunities are in compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards. Mitigate risks associated with product development, payment innovation. Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to navigate complex regulatory landscapes during investigation & implementation of new opportunities. Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Computer Science or a related field. Masters considered an asset. Minimum 3-4 years of relevant experience in digital, business analysis, product management/development, consulting or financial services. Experience/understanding of Open Banking & Embedded Finance considered a very valuable asset for this role. Strong technical foundation including experience in financial services and/or technology. Previous experience with technology teams in an agile environment considered an asset.Salary Range: CAD $86,000 – $95,000 annually
Compensation for this role is based on a combination of skills, experience, and internal equity. Candidates with stronger alignment to the role’s requirements may be placed higher within the range. Your recruiter will share more information about our total rewards package during the hiring process.
Office Location: Toronto Corporate Office with the ability to travel to our St. Catharines office as needed. This is a hybrid work opportunity.
